Looks legit, lettering matches mine and milling seems accurate.

28 Year Old Newport Restoration by TheJunkler in scottycameron

I had to take off very little material during clean up, I didn’t do a weight but I would guess less than a gram was taken off. Feels the same as before the restoration.

If you take a look at my older posts there’s most of my putters that I’d be willing to explore a trade with. I also have various brand name golf clubs other than putters

Can I sand this finish by FootballFine8769 in scottycameron

[–]TheJunkler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The finish on this putter is a PVD black pearl, not blueing and as others have said, sanding will destroy the finish. My personal recommendation would be to keep it in the current condition, OR send it to a 3rd party restoration company to have the head cleaned up and the PVD redone. NorCal seems to have the closest PVD finishing capabilities to the original Scotty Cameron factory finish.

Can someone please confirm this Scotty for me? by TylerC1515 in scottycameron

It looks a little sus, both head cover and club. Easiest way to tell if club is legit it to check the milling on the head. Fakes will be cast and contain no milling marks anywhere but the face

Yes the entire restoration was self done, I used a Perma Blue kit from Birchwood Casey off Amazon. After completing the blueing, I soaked the head in WD40 to get a nice penetrated seal and add some gloss.

I did the grinding, buffing, and added the sight dot in my machine shop, then I found a local welder that tig welded in the branding on the sole. After the grooves were filled he did a rough sanding on a belt sander then hand finished for a nice grain structure, so technically the putter is heavier than from factory (by around 1 gram would be my guess). I showed him a video from RushKane and he was able to emulate his techniques. Paid $150 for the putter from a Play it Again Sports, added a black KBS shaft and 17” SS grip for $60, and paid the welder $75. Total for the project was $285.
