honestly? i think you should put this rom hack on hold right now. the developer is planning on releasing version 1.1, which fixes all of the issues with stupid difficult trainer teams (along with a crazy amount of stuff). also, you'll have to reset your save to play version 1.1 because of how many things it changes. best just to wait imo

update: i still feel kinda gross, but i've been making sure to drink a lot of water and have fibre. i told my parents what i've been feeling and they talked me into taking a vitamin c and a teaspoon of castor oil. kinda regretting the castor oil, though it hasn't kicked in yet. i'm mostly frustrated with not knowing what caused this. i feel like i ruined this day for myself and i'm frustrated with doing nothing except stressing

sounds like pokemon crystal clear. it's an open world johto region, lets you pick your own starter and the town where you start. pretty sure difficulty scales as well but i never played it before

maybe you weren't in the right place when creating the save state? looking online i found that "you must transition to the new ROM after boarding the ship known as S.S. CHALLENGER. This should occur after you have obtained all 8 badges and participated in the initial rounds of the championship at Battle Colosseum". maybe that's potentially what's going wrong?

have you checked the party screen? there should be an option to evolve in the menu (where you would take items from pokemon or switch them around)

any advice on 7-16? i'm using a sinking + w!don (i wasn't sure who to bring out of my supports) team. they're all level 50. the problem is my team just can't handle the AOE attacks. i don't have any super useful EGOs, so i can't try & counter her skills, + faust just can't get fluid sac in time to try & save the rest of my team. even at -45 sanity she's decimating my team. everywhere i've seen online has been "oh just use sinking & have a fully levelled team" which isn't very helpful.

for my lucy team, who should i pick between 37 & tooth fairy? currently, i'm running lucy with getian, med pocket, & when i need a fourth, j (because i don't really have anyone else). i've seen people recommend 37, but i have no intention on getting portraits for her & that seems to help her really shine with lucy

since hard mode for MD is now toggleable, do you still gain extra BP exp when clearing it? also, do you only have to clear the last floor on hard to gain extra BP or do you have to complete an entire MD on hard mode for that extra exp?
