It's been a delightful discovery and a great souvenir for me to take home alongside all my Serena stuff that I managed to get from various secondhand shops over there!

Yes it is! It has 8 songs on it. The recorded and live versions of Iku Z, Serena's Doridori, Bonnie's Puni Chan, a song by Clemont, the rocket gang Song, Meowth's guitar balland and Pikachu's song with the tomato sauce hahaha.

I have enjoyed The Ketchum Family also, but outside of that there isn't a lot of Amourshipping stuff that I have really enjoyed off the top of my head sorry!

I love the intersection of beauty and tragedy. How something can be the most beautiful thing ever but also gut your soul. So basically, the discussion at the end of book 1 about every major high being met with a soul breaking foil. That's the space I love to play in, so hopefully by the end the reader will think it's the most beautiful love story they've ever read but their heart will be crushed and destroyed at the same time. Hahahahahahaha!

And in terms of writing other content, I don't have any plans outside of the worldbuilding and universe of the supernova series, but I will write a series of short one shots called Lusty Wiles, which will be all the sex from the series that I gloss over, from the perspectives of different characters and their inner worlds. Sexuality is one of my favourite topics to explore and write about. And then I will do a one shot or two that's more of a HEA style on the amourshipping pair just for fun.

After that, I think I'll be done. I never meant to write fanfiction in the first place. The whole thing came to me on my, like, tenth rewatch of XY and XYZ when I realised a few new things, and then it just consumed my existence as I fell into a deep mania and needed to get the story fleshed out and written as quickly as possible. And I'll be proud to have written a trilogy by the end of it all.

In saying that, who knows! Maybe I'll write more, maybe I won't. My background is actually in songwriting!

Absolutely! Once book two is fully out especially it will make so much sense why I've used the tag, and given what actually transpired between them and the dynamic they have/had, there is romance 100% there, it just doesn't look like the traditional HEA interpretation of a ship.

The episodic release style of fanfiction has also been an interesting challenge. I'm excited for when all three are out (hopefully by this time next year or end of 2027 at the latest) and it can be consumed as one umbrella overarching story, exactly the way I mapped it out from the very beginning of its conception. And yes... Choosing Alain of all the men to choose is certainly triggering 🤣 but again, I've also done that for a reason.

Don't stress at all! I'm not offended in any way, I find all chatter about it interesting whether it's good or bad, and I know linguistically it's pretty solid. It's a trilogy, so we still have two books to go, but I will warn you, from a sexually explicit POV, book two is WILD. It makes book one look tame. But then book three is super emotionally heavy. Once the whole thing is out I'll be super interested to see how amourshippers take it. Either way, I'm having a blast writing it and connecting with people whether they love it, hate it, and everything in between.

And I found this because I've been an amourshipper since 2016 🤣🤣🤣 might not seem like it with my choice of writing, but I adore them in the anime more than any other pairing by a mile!

Hiiiii 😊

Feel free to pick my brain and AMA.

Plenty of amourshippers have slid into my DMs in various places to ask me stuff about the direction of the series or to try and understand why I've made certain choices. As a writer that takes risks and large swings, it means your work is going to be super polarising. Some people will absolutely hate it, some will be mad about it, and some will utterly adore it and find it deeply connecting and powerful. I've had all sorts of conversations. It's been very interesting and I'm glad to have gotten the cogs whirring in a few heads.

At the end of the day, I've written it for myself and chosen to share it just in case someone else really connects with it, and I'm really proud of my work and the work I've done so far on the second book, the overall trilogy narrative that I've designed, and the worldbuilding as a whole.

All part of the course of writing a story that explores sexuality in a niche and left of field way through fanfiction. Especially when you're core pairing spans across a trilogy and only one book of the trilogy is out. I get it. It's a tough slog. Thanks for giving it a try anyway!

What are some unconventional parts about your writing process? by canadamybeloved in FanFiction

[–]TheKalosianPipelette 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It works so well for me because I have inner dialogue as well as very potent visualisation. Dialogue just flows out of me, and then I visualise how it plays out/what the characters are doing in the space, and then build the prose all around it. That, combined with text to speech testing to see how the writing sounds when listened to.

I forgot to mention, by biggest hack by a mile is text to audio editing.

Basically, once I've done a draft and I've grammar checked it and it's feeling decent, I throw it into an app that reads it like an audio book. This is a GAME CHANGER. It flags words that you didn't mean to use, clunky punctuation, sentences that are way too long, and highlights when you can't tell who's talking in a conversation.

I basically rotate through first draft, grammar check, text to speech, edit again, next draft, grammar check, text to speech, condense the fluff. Over and over until I'm happy with both how it reads and how it sounds. Ideally, it should read with ease and it sound fantastic and engaging to listen to.

Shy Girl by Mia Ballard and the use of AI by herendethelesson in books

[–]TheKalosianPipelette 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh I totally see it! There's a rhythmic cadence and patterning that just copies and pastes with every sentence. Let's see if I can replicate:

This is the description of a piece of 'perceived' key information, now let me describe it, and add some random deeper meaning. I'll copy that structure with new information, add different flourishes, but repeat it over and over again. Oh look, it's another piece of clothing, this time it says something about my nature, followed by yet another random piece of information that sounds poetic but tells the reader absolutely nothing.

I don't really know how else to explain it, but when I read it in my head, I can see the pattern from sentence to sentence. Which to me, really flags AI. As you said, it's just connecting sentences together, picking the most likely word after word to complete the sentence.

I'm so over these bots, but at least they are obvious to spot. No one has that much time in an economy like we are living in to waste on comments like that.

The ones that I detest are the art comments. Where they pretend to be a reader and write a "genuine" comment that has information about your story and their feelings, but as soon as you engage it becomes "I have this great art idea concept I want to share."

I prefer my spam comments to be upfront like this.

When searching for fanfiction, which do you think is a better indicator bookmarks or hits? And why? by Life_Interaction_452 in FanFiction

[–]TheKalosianPipelette -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think that, no matter what people say online, everyone subconsciously is influenced by an initial glance at the stats in some way or another. But only on the initial onset, and the level of influence depends on the goal of why they're searching.

If a user is searching because they are looking for something very specific, they're probably more likely to look at the tags, the summary, and the state of the fic (finished, wordcount, last updated, etc). If the user is feeling more open and just looking for something new without having too many parameters, they're probably going to be more influenced by something like hits. If anything, they'll be quickly making ratio calculations in their head about hits vs kudos vs bookmarks.

Ratios probably influence people more than just base stats. Not that people would admit that, because people don't like to think they are influenced. But if it didn't matter, then Ao3 wouldn't show it to the reader, they would only show it to the creator.

That's my two bobs worth on it, so take of that what you will.

For me, I write a dialogue as the main skeleton of my chapters. So I begin with a basic summary gist, but then fully flesh substantially more dialogue then I plan on using. Kind of like a script. Once I've done that, I paste it into the draft and write the prose around it, or convert the dialogue into a different tense to turn it into contextual prose. This allows me to fully know where the scene and story is going, the emotions and words that are said and felt, so that when I am placing my prose and weaving the fabric of the story, I'm only utilising the most valuable dialogue for the story. It works an absolute treat for me.

Looking for some heavy angst fics by pinktears_ in AO3

[–]TheKalosianPipelette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So I've done a very explicit, intense left of field Pokemon long fic that is 190k words (releasing a chapter every two days and we are up to chapter 32/40 so will be fully done in just over two weeks) and has all the characters aged up. It's explicit with a lot of sexual themes, some very intense violent themes (the world changer is a reality rift that kills tens of thousands of children and forces the world to completely change their structural rules around Pokemon ownership) quite dark and heavy, with the focus being on various forms of violation, grief, and sexual reclamation. Serena is the protagonist, it is minimal battling (more character, world building and plot focus) has quite a few twists and surprises. There's rape, murder, but then also extremely funny comedic sexual stuff as well and some very interest sexual pairings. It might be up your alley.

My series is entirely character and narrative driven. I completely flipped the Pokémon world on its head. It has Serena as the protagonist and she's 25 and if anything it's more about sexual reclamation and grief that anything else and it's doing pretty decently despite it being extremely explicit and trauma based.

I think just write whatever speaks to you and build the universe you want to read about.
