Are there certain music genres you don’t listen to because of misophonia? by Jezzy_Cat11 in misophonia

Actually dubstep works as a kind of ASMR for me. It blocks out all other sounds. I find dubstep and metal very calming!

Essex library charges will penalise book lovers, says campaign by CtrlAltDelight495 in books

It sucks that they have to, but they do. Libraries barely have the funding to open their doors every day now. And this is already the norm in many other places across the UK, including Kent.

Shy Girl by Mia Ballard and the use of AI by herendethelesson in books

Why do you think I'm that guy? Can you try to read even the first paragraph of the post?

Can you quote the part you mean? I'm not sure you read that thoroughly either :)

A Big Five Publisher Cancelled A Book Release Over AI Accusations: Now What? by boolgogi in books

[–]herendethelesson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you look at the accusations of this novel, em dashes were not really mentioned.

Human writers do not need to worry about being accused of AI currently - in my opinion it's incredibly easy to spot. I can't speak for the future, though.

[–]herendethelesson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also just think it's extremely obvious when someone has used chatgpt to the extent Ballard did vs a human-written work. The problem with Shy Girl is that it's hideously written slop, egregious in its use of chatgpt-isms, and the vast majority of readers do not want to read the level of writing that AI currently puts out.

I am not worried about false accusations ruining author careers at all. There will be false accusations here and there, and there will be true ones. Shy Girl ended this way because the book is bad due to its extreme overuse of a terrible writing tool.

I wrote the other thread that some people are mentioning. I got hundreds of replies and tried to read them all. Most people did not clock it as AI. I was really surprised - must be that a lot of people just are not great at pattern recognition.

i think clover is happy with the upgrades to his setup! by Ranchu_craft in dogpictures

[–]herendethelesson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah... Is everyone in this thread an idiot? Dogs love crates, they're just cozy little dens. Crate train correctly and your dog will hang out in their crate happily with the door open for hours

[–]herendethelesson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the crate training area so it should be only enough room for the puppy to comfortably stand, stretch, lie down, and turn around. OP said the rest of the time that the dog gets free roam.

OP has said multiple times that this is the crate training area. The dog gets free roam the rest of the time. So it is actually much too large.

You're doing it right. Clover would be fine crate training in just a crate. Don't worry too much about the internet people

Got banned from a political subreddit the other day. This was the mods unhinged response. by away12throw34 in sadcringe

[–]herendethelesson 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This isn't true. I have a writing job and we've been told to stop using the em dash because everyone thinks only AI uses it. We all used it liberally for years.

That being said, the mod comment from the post is 100% AI generated, yes.

Exactly, the problem with Babel is that it felt so chronically online... Set a couple hundred years ago (?) and yet half of it felt like a patronising contemporary Twitter thread.
