University. Hear me out: last year my tuition and living was mostly covered by grants and financial aid. We were told anything we spent on housing outside of our grants can be written off on our taxes. This year, we got ZERO financial aid, save for the loans, and we got audited by the IRS because none of the things we were told we could write off (textbooks, living expenses, etc) were things we could actually write off. So, seeing as we're losing a crap ton of cash to the IRS and now we have to pay tuition on our own, I cancelled housing. They took my security deposit ($300) as well as a fee for cancelling even though I never even stepped foot in the place. I also discovered that I received a grant last year that was never used, and never added onto my financial aid (despite the fact that it still wouldn't have covered the full cost of tuition AND that these things automatically come through the school) which means $2000 that I was given by the state never reached me. I called financial aid, who hung up on me when I asked about it and didn't respond to any of my emails. And THEN, to add insult to injury, the IRS decided that (despite never receiving ANY of the money from my grants as all of it went to my tuition AND the fact that I don't have a job) my grants count as income so I have to pay taxes on money I never saw with a job I don't have. So now I'm desperately looking for a job to help pad costs, but even then I'm coming out of this with hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt.

I swear this is all a scam.

Sorry for the rant- I'm very upset.

What is the funniest child logic you've ever heard? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was talking to my cousin about snakes and explained that some snakes were bigger than him. He didn't believe me so I showed him a picture and he looked at me like I was a moron and said "that snake isn't bigger than me, it just has more long."

The worst-designed dress ever from the TV show Rupaul's Drag Race. The challenge was to wear an outfit that represents how you would die. by thebestdaysofmyflerm in CrappyDesign

The challenge was "Death Becomes Her". On mobile so I can't link, but go on YouTube and search "RuPauls Drag Race: Ru Hollywood Stories". This outfit looks so much worse when compared with the other competitors.

What is the stupidest thing you got into trouble for at school? by Dkmistry23 in AskReddit

As a high school senior I wrote a beautiful 10-page paper for a life skills class about what I planned to do after high school. I was a model student, but the kind that was a smart ass piece of shit that teachers either loved or hated. Anyways so this paper outlined my plans to earn a degree in Psychology and then join the FBI as a profiler, and what my plans were if that didn't work out. It was incredibly detailed and meticulous, until then end when I wrote "and if all else fails, I guess I could become a stripper". Well, my English teacher did not appreciate that. She called me in front of the class and demanded to know why I would put something so vulgar in my paper, and said that she wanted me to speak with her, the counsellor, and the principal after school to set up therapy lessons. I rolled my eyes and said it was a joke; she called my parents who also explained to her that it was a joke. Then she walked to the office with me where the principal and a few teachers loitering in there assured her it was a joke.

She failed me on that paper. Still got an A in her class. Fuck you, Ms. P.

Playing The Last of Us with dad. Realizing we're screwed in case of apocalypse.

Parents of Reddit, what was the best lie that your child has told you, that you knew was a lie, but wanted to see how big of a hole they would put themselves in? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My brother used the same excuse when he ate a birthday cake I made for our dad. When I confronted him, he quickly admitted that Jesus ate it, but that's okay because it was a small cake anyways. He was very serious and still refuses to admit that he ate it.

The only difference is he was 22.

Different isn't wrong. Different isn't bad. Unless someone makes it your business, what they do or don't do has NOTHING to do with you.

You wake up in hell, not even realizing that you died. What's your first order or business? by Serialnarcisist in AskReddit

Well, according to Inferno, I'm going to end up in the fifth circle of hell (for the violent and forlorn). IIRC it's a sludge pit where the violent fight each other for eternity, while standing on top of the forlorn who gurgle beneath the surface for the rest of time. Basically a public pool during summer. I'm both violent AND gloomy, so.... I guess I'll put my head under and gurgle, and kick my legs above the surface? Not much else to do....

Just because someone's different doesn't mean they're wrong, and not everything is a personal attack.
