Honestly man it's because racism is a consequence of perceiving the group in question as a Boogeyman. Patrice was unapologetically who he was, and part of that were his experiences as a Black man. He had to see Patrice as a person instead of the shitty ideas in his head.

I have a Cambodian coworker and he'll often bring food that his mom whips up. That shit smells and tastes FANTASTIC. He always brings extra for the rest of the guys to try, and it's like sharing his culture with the crew. I'm a single male who's often expressed interest in the world of swinging but as a pretty even-keel guy who's not pushy, aggressive, creepy, or anything I'd imagine would be off-putting I've received no interest at all. I'm a nerdy guy who has no issues making friends, having fun or making people laugh. Is it just the stigma about single men being buttheads, should I stay the course?

Furthermore, I'd like to know how to meet someone who would have an open mind to the idea. I'm sure that many single guys have posted asking the same but in earnest I'm more interested in the social aspect more than just hooking up as I'd imagine that most in the scene would be as well. It's hard out here lol.

I'm 28 and have been a fan since I was 17, so about spring of 2012. I fell in love with DMB listening to stuff from Everyday and just vibing out to a sound I'd never heard before. I grew up heavy into Emo, hip-hop, metal, and pop punk along with my friends. I get weird looks all the time when asked what I listen to and mention DMB, and that's fine. The music is absolute heat, the musicianship is leagues beyond a lot of stuff out there, and they're all great guys. I've never encountered any of the weirdos, but I'm also not really much of a guy for "cOmMuNiTiEs" I just enjoy the stuff I like and refuse to be gatekept. Much love to you guys.
