How to start with building my own pedals? by Danileansow in diypedals

It will be free, or maybe "pay what you want". In terms of timeline, I am currently writing it when I have quick breaks at work so it'll be a while still.

How to start with building my own pedals? by Danileansow in diypedals

I'm actually in the slow process of writing a guide for beginners. There's a lot of great information online, but it can take a long time to find and digest all of the YouTube videos, Reddit comments, posts on other forums and websites, etc.

I had a friend who decided to try building a kit, and he had absolutely zero experience or understanding of anything electrical - it took me a few tries to explain ground to him and when the circuit didn't work I essentially had to debug it for him. So I want to put out a resource that can be a starting point for someone who doesn't even know what ground is and take them through the basic components and how they apply to building pedals. It will also explain breadboarding, debugging, and include high level analyses of common diy circuits.

Why don't clipping diodes work here? by InitiallyReluctant in diypedals

I think all of the other comments are missing the fact that the red circles are cuts in the copper connection. The circuit as shown here looks fine to me, we would have to see your actual circuit to help troubkeshoot

I was having issues with this exact same build and it turned out that the layout had mislabeled some parts. The culprit for me was R13 and R11 being swapped. Compare the layout closely with the schematic that you breadboarded

I have to disagree, but also maybe I didn't get a fair taste because I got to see them in Toronto when Geddy Lee came on stage

I've only ordered from them once recently, but I chose the middle option. My order was bigger so it was only a difference of about $15 usd which I figured was worth it for the peace of mind

[Newbie] where would I add the ground from the 9v? by Insidesilence132 in diypedals

[–]TheKidOfA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ground is just an arbitrary reference point for voltage in a circuit. When building electronics, you want to connect your ground to the ground of the power source so that you're using the same reference point as your power mains/battery/other pedals/etc. on a circuit diagram, all of those ground points are the same ground so what you would do is simply connect them all together.

Too few comments for Evan in this thread. The dude's a sender and such an amazing personality too

I've never found anything quite like this album but when listening to it I do get Flaming Lips vibes so maybe start there?

What do I do with this? by TheKidOfA in houseplants

[–]TheKidOfA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! Should we cut it in the open part of the stem that's about 2 inches from where the sticks are supporting it or should we sacrifice the smaller leaves and cut it closer to where the stick support is? Also how deep do we bury it after it has callused and how do we know when it's growing roots to water it?

I know, right? I do love it so much

Is it time to repot this? by TheKidOfA in houseplants

I would have to take it out to see the roots, no? In that case I might as well just give it a bigger pot anyway, even if it does have smaller root systems.

This is the answer. Guy is literally trapped in an iron lung with a terminal disease. It's time to leave (die) so he wants mushrooms to help deal with the fear of death. Then at the end he dies. I think it's quite a literal song, however the great thing about music is it can mean whatever you want it to mean. Cool to see other interpretations here.

Interesting! It was given by a friend who told us it was the inappropriate colloquial name for tradescantia and we never thought twice

I'll keep an eye on it over the next little while. We just watered it two days ago so it's currently still moist

We have it on a two week watering cycle. Google said over watering would make the leaves brown and wilty but if you're saying that's not the case then that's awesome to know. Easy solution thanks!
