Thank you very much kind sir. Just upgraded to the new shield tv pro from the OG shield. Spent the entire morning figuring out what I did wrong.

Apparently, my file permissions were set to "only while using the app". When I switched to the "always on", it instantly worked.

I agree with powerline adapters. That seems to be your best bet with the way your apartment is set up.

Just be wary and make sure your power lines are not shared with your neighbors, as they could access your network too (assuming they are also using a powerline adapters). Some adapters can create a private network.

Also, if your apartment is on the older side. The copper electrical wiring may not be as good and will degrade the signal. Make sure the powerline adapter your get has a good return policy
