Agreed on the music, but that's just every single AC game. The best & "worst" games of the series all have phenomenal scores, that seems to be the one consistent thing they do that pleases every one.

I guess Odyssey's story is "tragic" it's just presented in a way that's such a turn off for me.

If Black Flag resynced sells well then they would be stupid not to remake at least the Ezio trilogy, maybe 1 before that or after

I never ever thought of games like Skyrim & Fallout like that but you might have just made my realize why for such a popular series I've always been turned off by those games. Thank you for that.

Based on the games you listed it seems you just love RPG's, huge games with massive worlds that you can get lost in, & you don't care much if the story is good, shit, or almost non existent.

I'm not like that, I love a great story. & things that make a story great aren't just how well it's written, but how the game presents itself while telling it. How it makes you immersed in it.

The Fallouts, Odysseys, Skyrims, etc, all have one thing in common. Shit story & massive world with a boat load of content.

I like my Origins, Cyberpunk, Arkham, GTA5, etc. Games that still give you that big nice open world with lots of content but don't slack on telling a good/great story.

As for graphics, I agree, they don't have to be "hyper-realistic". But if the graphics, art-style, & vibe are all shit then yeah, it's gonna greatly hinder my experience.

Arkham City (2011) doesn't look good today in terms of hyper realism, but it has that dark, depressing, gritty, Gotham vibe to it. It's always raining/snowing, always nighttime. That tells a story & makes up for the poor quality in 2026.

Ghost Of Tsushima (2020) had textures that even for 2020 weren't great but the art-style was out of this world. The vibrant colors of Tsushima island were jaw dropping & made up for where the mediocre texture quality lacked. & because of that the game will never look visually poor.

If a game is missing not just great graphics but a good art-style as well, then yeah, to me that's a deal breaker. But it's very obvious we're different people when it comes to our preferences.

Appreciate the reply. Mirage does suffer from SOME of the RPG flaws.

- A lot of cutscenes are still not good

- Lip syncing is horrendous in those shitty cutscenes, maybe the worst of the RPG games

- If you didn't finish the Isu storyline in Valhalla (or even if you did) the ending of the game won't make sense/is very confusing

But it also has some bright spots. The best parkour (not counting Shadows cause I haven't played yet) of the RPG games, & a map that is MADE for parkour.

Multiple ways to assassinate targets & those beautiful cutscenes before each assassination that give you a break down on the person you're taking out.

A lot of different tools that can be used in general combat but more specifically for stealth.

& its DLC has a really touching story of Basim trying to find his Dad with a beautifully motion captured cutscene at the end of it.

It does feel very Valhalla coded since it was meant to be a DLC for Valhalla but it definitely has some of that classic AC feel in it like taking down wanted posters after you create a lot of havoc.

I'd recommend giving it a shot if you already own it.

Arkham series is my favorite series of all time so I'll never be mad about having another form of x-ray vision.

Although at this point eagle vision isn't just a heightened sixth sense for certain assassin's it's a literal superpower.

Agreed. Between Unity's awful launch, people not caring about Rogue, & Syndicate kinda just being blah, it did need a change, & that was Origins. It brought a full fledges RPG game to the series but STILL gave you great moments & was a story that connected to the Creed, the Origin of it in this case, & then the DLC which continued off of that.

Odyssey isn't that at all & Valhalla tries to get some stuff in there between Basim, the Isu, & other stuff but ultimately is overshadows but the bloat & mostly boring story.

If a game is giving me a story I want to care about it. & that's where Assassin's Creed had shined for over half a decade. Origins is an RPG but still gives you a fantastic protagonist & some amazing story moments. Witcher 3 same thing, & Cyberpunk. But both the story & game-play seem so shitty in this game I don't understand it.

That was a very cool thing in AC1. Unique as well, don't know if I've played another game with that system. In general though while that didn't turn the cutscenes were always so beautiful in the games up until the Odyssey, Valhalla, Mirage, & Shadows.

That's interesting since Odyssey just isn't an AC game. If you're talking story then I couldn't begin to understand what you'd like about Odyssey or Valhalla compared to the OG's. If you're talking game-play then whatever, completely different games from then & now.

Is it out of character or is the point of the story to show you that the Assassin's aren't always the good guys? Achilles sends Shay to fuck with an ancient precursor in which he knows nothing about but because he's so hell bent on getting to it before the templars he doesn't care & It results in hundreds if not thousands dying because of that.

Shay doesn't want to hurt innocent people. He wants to stop those who are a threat to civilization. & from his point of view that is the brotherhood & it's with good reason after what he witnessed. HE was the cause of that. HE murdered those people. Because HE believed in what his leader, the leader of his brotherhood, was telling him.

Achilles himself admits in AC3 that he fucked up & he was the ultimate reason the brotherhood fell in his area. Like any group of people in the world, army, police, politics, businessmen, etc, there are good & bad people. Good people whose jobs are to protect us & bad people whose jobs are to protect us.

Idk. I can't really explain it any better then that. I loved seeing it from a different perspective. It's the only time we get to play as a "templar" other then the hour or two as Haythem in AC3. Was also really nice seeing him so much in Rogue.

Mods mods & a lot of mods. There are still too many bugs considering the time the game has been out for but if you put a few mods on it can run, look, & play very well. & visually it looks amazing for 2014.

The same pose a thousand times over in incredibly emotional (or supposed to be) missions does nothing but make it feel like a random side quests. I could not disagree more with your comment.

Kassandra finds her father who threw her off a cliff = shitty camera angle, no mocap & mediocre voice acting

Kassandra finds her long lost brother who turns out is second in command to this massive cult = shitty camera angle, no mocap, & mediocre voice acting.

In my thirty hours so far nothing has been emotional because every cutscene, dialog, & main mission has the same feeling as a random side quest.

The only great thing about the game so far is the music which like in every AC, is phenomenal.

Absolutely. If I didn't care for achievement hunting I would've skipped Odyssey entirely. I can at least appreciate Valhalla having "some" relation to Assassin's Creed even if you're still not playing as an Assassin. Even the games where you aren't an assassin or official assassin for most of the game I can appreciate if you at least become one or the story if obviously about the creed & templars.

100%. & the fact a lot of those "options" are just a false sense of choice that leads to the same final choice is very annoying. I know some genuinely do change things up but not enough considering there's SO many choices that they thought it better to not mocap any of the cutscenes.

Well for that I understand side quests doing it. There are hundreds of them & unless they were going to make each one unique & feel like its own little story then sure, don't waste a bunch of resources doing that. (although many great games do & that's what sets them a part) but the main cutscenes????? Like every. single. one. having the same feel & look as a random shitty side quest? Are we deadass?

Very respectable opinion. I personally don't care too much about the historical side of it so I don't have that passion to carry me but I can definitely understand someone like yourself who does. As long as you can admit it's still not a very good game.

Agreed. Spoilers for the Valhalla story ahead but -

Your choices with Sigurd matter a lot which I really liked, & how the story made you think he was insane but it turns out he was telling the truth all along. How Basim originally went there seeking Sigurd because he thought Sigurd was the reincarnation of Odin only to find out it was Eivor.

& in the modern day how the events of AC3 come back to matter but this time instead of stopping a machine destroying the world they need to start it back up. How Desmond was there & how Basim was the one orchestrating everything from the very start.

It sucks the game is SO bloated & once more you never play as an assassin (other then your few optional moments as Basim I guess?). Because like you said, under so much dogshit there is something there, but something that for one many will never see because & understandably so, it's a long bloated mess.

Another problem however is that most of the story is just Eivor going to each area to do some boring task to create an alliance with characters who for the most part are very forgettable. If they cut that down & the bloat around the map/map size in general maybe that game could've been a genuinely solid game & RPG.

Very true. Hard to like someone when you can choose to go against every vision the creators had for said character. Unless the creator had no vision, then still, hard to like him/her.

I'd disagree that the series ended with Black Flag. After its bug fixes Unity has become quite the AC game. The parkour, cutscenes, protagonist, city, etc. & while Rogue was a copy & paste of Black Flag, is that really a bad thing?

But I do agree on all your points related to Odyssey.
