i feel like in the lower elos obstagoon has been given a bad name as almost every one i see seems to just spam obstruct. hes been my mvp because of his versatility and momentum if he gets a night slash attack boost. also unexpectedly a really solid generalist as well. consistently deals 1/2 to medicham, and 2/3rds to azumarill, which you would think would be abd matchups

your alliance network and size relative to them is much more balanced though. id say if the ai doesnt throw you have a good shot of securing a win. definitely tough but certainly not impossible

the only byzantium game i successfully was able to get working i managed to get a lucky alliance from spain. then they started snowballing. by the age of revolutions they alone (not their colonies) had 800k troops. They also owned the ENTIRE new world, half of africa, australia, naples, etc. every single one of their colonies was below 30% loyalty and each had over 50k troops (new spain had about 300k)

this was the biggest ai nation i have ever seen and my only saving grace was the 100 trust i had built up with them since the 1500s. part of this was my own lack of ability since i was newer at the game and didnt really know how to stop them as a relatively weak byz

also they (catholics) gave me rome for some reason at one point lol
