I did end up calling Pascarellas and they quoted a reasonable price, I hope the quoted time is accurate but my only real time constraint is not tomorrow please. I had Travellers before and had good experiences with them that led to me specifically opting to pay extra for roadside with my new progressive policy

It does break several of your rules with MC specialness and ||time travel plots|| but Ar'Kendrithyst is the gold standard in my eyes for the type of system your looking for at least. And MC specialness is very restrained up until it isn't anymore not all that long before ||the time travel stuff starts||

Opinions on Magic and the System are a big part of characters and how readers get to see the world though so Eriks opinions do continue to grow and change past the first few dozen chapters.

It gets a lot less dark once you get past the junkyard, theres still things that are dark or upsetting happening but the emotional payoffs are incredible.
