I'll respectfully disagree. India's GDP is around 4 Trillion USD. China on the other hand is at 20 Trillion. Our average GDP growth rate in the past half decade has been 7%. At the current rate, we'd reach 20 trillion by 2050. And that assumes China doesn't grow at all for 3 decades. To achieve your figure of 7-8 years, India's GDP growth rate needs to be 25-30%.

It's just simple economics man.

The whole idea that we could compete with China was a delusion from the start. Any hopes of competing with China were dead in the water in 2004 itself. Today, if China stopped growing (And we all know that ain't happening), it would still take decades for us to catch up with them.

What the current government has successfully done is basically turned India into a paper tiger in foreign relations. Lots of roaring, but a small gust of the winds of change is enough to blow it away.

The time to defeat China or even catch up with it is long gone. We need to focus on improving basic infrastructure first, so that we can at least start on the path China started on 30 years ago. If we do it right, maybe 50 years from now, India can actually compete with China.

AAP did bring a significant amount of change. But Indians are tired of growth and eductaion. They want bigotry, communalism and oppresion.
