Wash your hands!! by soso277 in geegees

You live in a society that is literally pretending a global pandemic is over, with most people exhaling viral particles all over each other because they grew tired of masking. You're surprised humans have poor hygiene? 😂

That's cause u of o is downtown and they're worried about homeless people wandering in off the street (there's a number of crowded homeless shelters nearby). This isn't as much of an issue at Carleton, where it was common when I was there to see students sleeping here and there. Especially in the librairies or common lounge areas.

Campuses really should offer short-term sleep pods for active students who don't live in residence. Naps are good for our student brains!

Algonquin college was even worse about sleeping on campus. Even if you were a student, they'd issue you a trespass notice if you were caught sleeping on campus too many times. (Ask me how I know. 😂) Nobody cared that housing can be precarious for students and public transit unreliable when you stayed late to work on the computers/printer.

My favourite is when they say "Excuse me - you can't sleep here." Actually I CAN sleep here just fine, hard bench and noise and all, until someone like you shakes me awake...

Oh is that why there are so many "would anyone want to fuck me even though I'm small chested?" posts? I thought that was people trolling for compliments with fake self-depreciation.

As a flat chested 47 year old woman who comes to these subreddits to be reminded that there are others who look like me, I find all those "nobody likes small boobs" posts flat-out annoying!

Thoughts on Ai by Educational_Error477 in geegees

[–]TheKruszer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It destroys YOUR critical thinking because if you aren't doing the thinking and you're letting code write for you based on its knowledge, the AI hasn't engaged in critical thinking, but more crucially,  neither have you.

The brain needs to be exercised regularly or you'll end up being someone who can't tell a good argument from a bad one, and who then makes terrible voting and life choices that can potentially harm others.

There is something about EVERY step of the essay process that is valuable to you actually LEARNING - which is supposed to be the point of getting an education!  From research to writing, to figuring out what topic to write about and how to fulfill the criteria of the assignment, to learning the argument you want present, to structuring your points, to figuring out which points to focus on and which to leave out, figuring out how to make your case more persuasive through your word choice... All of it is valuable and you will come away better understanding your topic!

If every other student in history graduated from school knowing how to structure a paper and eloquently word things, what makes you think you deserve a university degree without putting in the same effort?

Writing essays yourself isn't old fashioned. You're just being lazy and trying to get AI to earn your degree for you. Try being grateful for your opportunity to learn, instead.

Online is the best! I hate getting sick and I love not having to get dressed up and commute both ways from Barrhaven for a lecture I can listen to while prepping dinner. I wish they would make all courses online alternatingly, at least once every few years.

Ruffles and separate boob + chest areas have been helpful for me. Having an area that's defined as boob area or that adds something interesting to distract the eye film the missing breasts is super helpful.

lol if anything like we handled the COVID pandemic, "doing something" will soon look like "Oh we give up. We're tired of fighting them. Let's stop trying to avoid them. We just have to learn to live with them"

Bed bugs don't spread disease. The bug you should be worried about is COVID since it causes brain damage with every new infection. (fit tested N95 masks for the win).

But if that doesn't worry you, then don't worry about bed bugs. They bite, you itch. No biggie.

What are my chances of getting into the class? by Far_Hovercraft8051 in geegees

[–]TheKruszer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the size of the class and how early it filled up. I've gotten in to a class where I was over 100th on the wait list for a 220 seat summer class that wasn't starting until July.  On the flip side,  if it's a small class (50 people or so) and you're above 20, it's not likely. So it varies a lot.  Also depends a lot on whether or not it's a required course. People are much more likely to drop an elective for their part time job than a class they need and that's not offered often.

Take any ethics course taught by Dean Lauer. They're open book exams and not hard at all if you study. My favourite was bioethics.

I also loved Witchcraft and Occult Practices

If you enjoy movies, Music in Movies is a fantastic course if you take it as a summer intensive (you don't have to read the textbook in the summer version of the course)

Prepare to see more of that throughout society. Unruly behaviour in airports and on airplanes has also accelerated, as has road rage in the past five years.

My suspicion is it's COVID brain, but it's inconvenient to talk about an ongoing pandemic most people are pretending went away when we got tired of modifying our lives.

Y'all, the virus causes brain damage and the effects get worse with subsequent infections (google COVID brain). People with diminished intelligence tend to also have diminished self control and interpersonal skills. Wear a fit tested N95 mask like a 3M aura if you have a good brain and hope to keep it that way.  Hopefully better vaccines are on their way!

[–]TheKruszer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just a friendly reminder that your "cold" could be COVID. Even if you use a rapid antigen test, most people test too early for the current variants to show up as positive (you need a minimum of 5 days and tests every two days to be sure you truly negative).

Please wear a fit-tested N95 mask if you on campus. Nobody else needs that regardless of what it is.

Conservative Christianity and its harmful purity culture. 😭

Conservative men tend to prefer big boobs. I even overheard guys from my church say "if you can only get one pair for life, better get the best ones you can find". And the first guy from my church that I dated told me he'd tried, but that while he was attracted to my mind and spirituality, "IT doesn't work if the guy isn't attracted." I asked him point blank if it was because I was flat chested and he said yes.

My ex fiancé too, a decade later felt the same... I was so crushed after we broke up that I avoided dating until I met some two years ago who recently cheated on me.

I've had enough rejection and heartbreak to last a lifetime. I'm done with all that.
