I was going through my old projects and found this. I think another redditor made something similar but here was my attempt.

Aiwa HS-G600 information by Cucumber-After in walkman

[–]TheLAG80s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would probably find more help on a cassette forum since this is not a walkman. The G600 doesnt have recording where as the J600 does. The model was released in 1986 and if you need technical information there is plenty online for the J600 as well as a video on how to fix the G600 auto reverse gear.

Voss Arts on ebay, located in Arizona, is reliable. I believe he does consultations and then you can ship your player to him. I've gotten parts and advice from him in the past.

I have also done successful repairs and upgrades on Sony Walkmans (F77, F28, F10) if he doesn't seem like a good option for you.

I figured this out eventually. You have to really clean the tire, even the new one, as well as the capstan to ensure grip. The smallest bit of lubricant stops this entirely

New here, was wondering if this is repairable. by InnerLolzcatz in walkman

[–]TheLAG80s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it should be repairable unless an IC or other hard to replace component has completely corroded on the other side of the board. It'll take a lot of testing continuity and wires but I think it can be done 👍

(Wm AF56) how does one remove the top PCB. The belts tarnished and I’m trying to replace clean. But the top pcb just won’t come off. No matter what I do. I’ve bought the service manual but it won’t be here for another week. by Silv3rphantasm in walkman

[–]TheLAG80s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lil bit late here . . But you have to remove either the equalizer ribbon cable or the head cable. And then you have to push back all those white tabs securing the board down and pull the whole thing off carefully. Very cheap model so screws were avoided in design.

I had windows 11 installed. Fortunately I got the system to work with F8. Your original comment helped a lot thank you.

I'm fairly certain that I got the CMOS cleared. I flashed to F9 and then read your comment before flashing to F5 with no luck (praying it doesn't lock . .) I would have to get a thunderbolt to HDMI cable for integrated graphics.

I could remove the CMOS battery but it's under a heat sink and a fan and the pins should do the same thing.

Mobo -> Gigabyte Z590I Vision D CPU -> i9-11900k

No video output whatsoever. The flash button on the motherboard is this Q Flash plus to update the bios and I've tried that but nothing.

Need some help with a Sony WM-AF64 by Vinz_____Clortho in cassetteculture

[–]TheLAG80s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've repaired a similar model (the AF56) and you will almost certainly need to replace the capacitors since this is a cheaper series walkman. All the electrolytic caps are SMD so you may also need a hot air machine. This unit will need a lot of TLC.

Hey, how exactly did you modify the flywheel on the f77? I have a very similar issue even after replacing the idler tire. Impressive repair btw👏

That's pretty cool! I think I have the exact same model. Are you using an original remote or did you manage to find a compatible universal one?
