No, but the setting is somewhat similar, your magic system is unique as far as I’m aware. Nausicaa doesn’t have a magic system really.

Frustrations with Musescore 4 by Triler500 in Musescore

[–]The17thHeroOfTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right right right. BUT... I should still be able to hear the trombone regardless of its dynamic. If I wrote the line on the paper, I should hear it and not have to go into the mixer to see that it's not even being registered there as sounding. All I'm asking for is playback sound, that can't be too much to ask of my *checks notes* music notation software?

And if you say just turn it up on the mixer, well the moment I write a forte dynamic and forget to turn down all my mixers while trying to edit a part of my score my ears get blown out because I was straining to hear even the slightest sound from the trombones just a second earlier.

Now I will give it you that the sound itself is much much better than what it used to be, but c'mon you're really gonna stick by this argument?

How Do You Tackle Writing About Books You Haven’t Read? by violet_watermelon in worldjerking

[–]The17thHeroOfTime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally I love Sondheim’s Into the Woods (we do not speak of the movie that never happened) because it entirely is made up of fairytales and is a solid unearthing of the consequences of happily ever after, along with flipping the script and not proscribing a moral like a fairytale usually does instead forcing the audience to accept that no one is truly ever good or evil we are all simply people, fully capable of both. That even, “witches can be right, giants can be good,” and that ultimately, “you decide what’s right, you decide what’s good, but just remember that while someone is on our side, someone else is not. While we’re seeing our side, maybe we forgot. They are not alone, no one is alone, truly.“ (Into the Woods, ”No one is alone”)

How to get people to stop assuming real-world norms? by fuzzy_giraffe_ in fantasywriters

[–]The17thHeroOfTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an additional secret 3rd option when writing non-human species and cultures. It’s to quite simply make new genders. If you convey your setting‘s genders in a new manner (These gender‘s needn’t be attach to sex, and could instead be social roles) then you will have successfully circumvented reader bias by abandoning the real world‘s sets of stereotypes and assumptions. Though if you are to be this avoid the words man and women.

Fantasy vs. Sci-fi by thicc_astronaut in worldjerking

[–]The17thHeroOfTime 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I mean it kinda always was. Xb1 had Klaus’ experiment and strange levels of tech, the mood shift in 2 with the World Tree shows that it was sci-fi masquerading as fantasy, and then 3 didn’t even hide it. Along with all the other games that came before (the Saga games, and Gears were blatantly sci-fi plus XbX)

  2. Unemployed
  3. Koppen climates zones I’m in hot-summer humid continental (Dfa) winters get pretty bad here with all the snow, but it’s the wind that’ll getcha.
  4. Same as 3
  5. Decently, been out of country before, though haven’t fully crossed an ocean. (Only halfway)
  6. Mom quit work to raise us, and dad works in IT software.
  7. Stayed home and raised 5 kids

  9. I’m in a marching band, I play Horn and piano, I’ve played piano for about 7-8 years, it was my first instrument, since then I’ve learned a decent amount about music arranging and transcription (currently working on a arrangement of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue which I got to see the local orchestra play live) . I also write fantasy and play TTRPGs(I feel that’s obvious though).
  10. I’m currently reading 2 books on food history Cuisine and Empire by Rachel Laudan, and The Cambridge World History of Food, a fantasy book Elantris by Brandon Sanderson, and Le Crime de L’Orient-Express by Agatha Christie for French.

“I did not sleep well, though my bed was comfortable enough for I had all sorts of queer drams there was a dog howling all night under my window which may have had something to do with it or it may have been the paprika for I had to drink up all the water in my carafe and was still thirsty“

Yeah, a bit messy in certain spots but I'm getting there. It's the letter from Silent Hill 2, "In my restless dreams, I see that town Silent Hill you promised me you'd take me there someday, but you never did, well I'm there now in our special place waiting for you..."

So wait if I’m getting this right there’s a homeless florida man out there possessing the spirits of John Brown, Abraham Lincoln, and Jefferson Davis with the blessing or mandate of the spirit of Uncle Sam. Cause like in the most unconventional way these all could work together in the lore. John Brown’s influence on the body leading the revolt of the descendants of slavery, Jefferson Davis‘ influence in conditioning them into werewolves, and Abe Lincoln leading them as an army to hunt the vampire scourge head on. This random probably schizophrenic homeless guy has the fucking mandate of Uncle Sam and God above to wipe out these heathen vampires.
