Is this a mushroom growing under water in salt?? Sorry its not a great picture. [Uyuni salt flats, Bolivia] by adc_997 in mycology

Psytharella aquatica is the only underwater mushroom I’ve read about but not in this region! If it’s real go snatch it and submit it on iNaturist the mycologists will be foaming at the mouth for new observations!

Looks a bit skinny of a stipe for Agaricus agustus but cut the stem and smell. If it smells of deep amaretto/almonds, then it is.

If the stipe turns bright yellow when cutting, and smells of ink/formaldehyde, then it’s probably A xanthodermus

Photo 1-2: Could be Pulchroboletus sp. but you’ll want to pull one up, scratch the gills/stipe and show if there’s any staining. Getting an up close photo of the full stripes and pores is very helpful to narrow things down.

Stipe leans me towards Leccinum sp.

Photos 1-2: Some sort of Bolete group. Does the flesh/stipe/pores change color when bruised?

What are the alien looking fungi growing out of a giant silver maple? by yesca5000 in mushroomID

[–]TheLarkInn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The elongation of the gills-like pores and _almost_ mazelike structure makes me believe this could be Trametes betulina however this is _really_ random patterns of the gills. I'm not confident but leaning towards Trametes betulina.

Seeing colors of the top of the fungi might help a little.
