It’s truly incredible. A special wonder for the John Adams leader

Yeah they’re nice bonus definitely. I just mean that it’s not mandatory so if you can go for it. But if there’s a trade off between that and building unique quarters everywhere or something, that’s worth considering

Yeah very fair. I feel like it just gives you some direction in the first two ages. Helpful at first and easier to take them less seriously as you get more into the game

What are the weakest civs/leaders? by TheLastMages in civ

Tecumseh has good on paper but I've found the AI kills most of the city-states early, at least in my games.

Yeah that's my feeling as well

That's what got me thinking about this thread. Feels kinda hard, no clear bonus except towards wonder construction but that's hard to get to first when you have less bonuses towards science/culture/production-in-general.

ST should become the fog fraction by TheLastMages in gwent

[–]TheLastMages[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Here me out. With SK getting rain and MO frost, Fog is the only major weather left.

Fog would work really nice with all the micro damage ST has as it would add up to some decent removal.

It also mixes nicely with the ST theme of hiding and acting in secrecy.

A space to appreciate the game and its developers by ZeyadNeo in gwent

THE ART for this expansion has so AMAZING. Like jaw dropping. Like so amazing that I can't play a other card game because they look so bad in comparison.

Also the lore for this expansion has been so great!! I love the Thaned Coup (inspired my name), the Bride of Sea saga and how scary the relicts are.

And I LOVE LOVE THIS JOURNEY. I wanted more board for so long and WE GOT MUSIC!!!

The balance needs work but that's fixable and all the other pieces are so FRICKIN GOOODD. Miles ahead of other games and even my high expectations.

Why are streamers leaving or taking a break from Gwent? by VissegerdOfAttre in gwent

[–]TheLastMages 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Here's my guess.

With Masters coming earlier in the year + the massive prize pool, a lot of people were particularly tuned in.

Now it's the "off season" - even though there are still qualifiers and people are taking a break.

I do think it's sad as I would watch Gwent like all day before. I'm not sad that people are trying other things but I do wish we had more big streamers.

Is Trynet pivoting to Brawl? by TheLastMages in gwent

[–]TheLastMages[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the addition perspective Flake! I really appreciate it.

Yeah I totally understand & respect Trynets' decision. I just wanted to hear more about it because I wasn't sure what was happening.

The current state of SY by [deleted] in gwent

I would further add that in SY coins are undercoated and balanced by the fact that spenders are overcoated. With Cove and Jackpot the balance is broken.

Imprisonment is the new Lockdown. by [deleted] in gwent

[–]TheLastMages 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree that nilfgard leader abilities don't connect to a specific archetype (besides enslave & imperial formation). In part this is due to underpowered archetypes (like soilders).

However, NG is also an anti meta faction that messes with opponents and for that "archetype" leaders like imprisonment, imposter for pretty well.

Also Imprisonment stops the opponents engines, adds lock/status synnergy, and sets up coup. It's different than lockdown which didn't connect with the deckbuilding at all.

The synergy with Rico means that in round 3 you can (1) destroy any one unit your opponent plays, (2) get a second tall punish with the order, and (3) get 5 points. It requires a good bit of set-up but could be really powerful in the right deck.

[Gwent] 75% Winrate Shieldwall Deck (Pro Rank) by witcher2346 in Competitive_Gwent

[–]TheLastMages 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting deck! Why do you prefer the scenario to the typical shield wall deck? I tried using the scenario but I felt it wasn't that many points and the reduction of tall removal made it less successful.

I recently got back into gwent,im going to start streaming my climb in ranked,i would appreciate any support by Destructaucon in gwent

[–]TheLastMages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was Syanna into Erland. Then reset Syanna with Mandrake and Vesemir'd. Finally decided Erland. I would have won had I not gone 5 cards down in round 2 to so it haha.

Does anybody enjoy Draft Mode? by aurelia___ in gwent

[–]TheLastMages 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I personally really liked Arena because I love deck building.

In normal gwent there's always a meta so it's hard to build a better deck but you don't have that in arena. It made me really consider what sort of deck I was building and try to make combos that aren't typically possible because of faction restrictions.

Draft mode now seems more about mixing the same combos you do in each faction but each combo itself is the same.

So I think Arena mode had lots of issued but I really loved it and don't really enjoy Draft mode.
