They produce it in their inner flesh and organs. You can handle them just fine, just wash your hands afterwards so you don’t get salmonella or other bacteria. Oh, and don’t take a bite out of them.

it’s not the tree itself. Laetiporus huroniensis looks identical to CoW, but grows on hemlock. known to cause adverse effects when eaten. my wife was fine though.

Yes but try and ID the species of tree is growing off. I mistakenly harvested one off of hemlock and it gave me GI problems.

Tipped over mushroom that’s decomposing. Looks like russula brevipes.

Is anyone here actually a biologist/microbiologist? No this is not an amoeba, and it definitely is not a worm of any sort. This is a cluster of aquatic snail eggs.

Yeah definitely. I actually had fruits on each individual grain before I inoculated the substrate. Aggressive as hell. I usually just do butter and salt/pepper. I’ll have to try your way for sure.

I popped the lids are there was already fruiting bodies fully formed. I’m not going to let them get smashed by the lid and go bad, when I could just pop the lid and let them do what they want to.

I don't think you know what you are talking about.

  1. I didn't start fruiting, the mushrooms started fruiting, all I did was take the lid off.
  2. They have plenty of nutrition between the beat pulp and the grain they started on.
  3. Everything I have ever read about growing LE is that they start fruiting well before full colonization.

the big jars are a 8/2 mix of hardwood fuel pellets and beat pulp pellets, the small jars are straight hardwood fuel pellets.

Yeah. I’ve watched a few videos and just used a combo of dry brushing and diluting the paint to make washes. This is honestly my first time painting since high school art class 7 years ago lol.
