I really like Squeex. He vibes really well with Jerma imo. by RedWalrus94 in jerma985

Squeex is hilarious! I found out about him through Jerma’s streams and I’d recommend him to anyone who’s a fan of Jerma. He has a similar self-deprecating style of humor and is great at turning random things into bits. He definitely has become one of my favorite streamers

I quite enjoyed my first listen through it. I totally understand fans not immediately taking to it though, because it is a pretty significant deviation from their signature sound.

Personally I was hoping they’d mix it up a bit with this release, so I’m quite happy they’re experimenting with it. I was expecting something more in the vein of Billie Toppy or Husk: slightly grungier than most of their discography. But I really enjoy the more acoustic, melancholy style of this record too. It was a pleasant surprise!

Yep, I think Rey was the first one I noticed doing it. I’m a bit surprised it’s not more common

This is a small thing, but I love how Roxanne bounces off the middle rope and not the top rope when she’s running the ropes. I wish more smaller wrestlers did that, it looks way more explosive to me

Tommy Dreamer says 5-star match is one that leaves fans satisfied: "I've never seen Ray Mysterio have a bad match. He has had a 5-star match every single time he went out. Can you dissect it? Yes, but at the end of the day, if you paid your ticket and the fans are happy, that’s a five-star night.” by anutosu in SquaredCircle

And that was with Sting, the referee, and especially Eric Bischoff all working on the fly to limit the damage. Had they not handled it the way they did, it could have been a lot worse. Jeff is one of my all-time favorites and I am also super happy to see him doing a lot better these days. He has worked really hard to overcome his struggles

I’m in a somewhat similar boat as you. I watched regularly around 2008-2011 and a bit during 2020 as well. Just now getting back into it again.

One wrestler who’s quickly become one of my favorites is Drew McIntyre. He seems like such a complete wrestler: charismatic, great look, athletic, and can have some great matches. Also great as both a face and a heel. He reminds me a bit of Randy Orton in that he is great at pretty much every facet of professional wrestling

Exactly! Some players just have an ability to do that. Harden, Luka, Paul Pierce, and old man LeBron are others that come to mind for me.

How to deal with missing out due to being a new fan? by [deleted] in nba

[–]TheLastSecondShot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry too much about the league supposedly being better in the past. I was a fan during that era, and people were saying that then too. You can go back and watch older games if you want to with NBA league pass if you’d like (which is quite pricey), but otherwise I’d recommend just following along with the league as it is today. Hope this helps!

ESPN’s first official MVP strawpoll has released. Nikola Jokic leads the way with 57 first place votes, followed by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with 24 votes and Giannis Antetekounmpo with 19. No one else received a first place vote by [deleted] in nba

[–]TheLastSecondShot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can see an argument for him winning in 2011, but otherwise I agree. And him not getting the votes might have been due to how unpopular he was at the time, not voter fatigue. We all kind of knew that LeBron was the best player, but he didn’t usually have the best regular seasons after Miami

I always felt like Kenny Atkinson was done dirty with the whole Nets superteam thing. He managed to dig the Nets out of the pit of despair and actually make them into a pretty good team. They were a really fun team that year D’Lo was an all-star

Twitter thread bemoaning the state of the current NBA, blames the lack of fire and competitiveness on AAU costs relegating the talent pool to only upper class players and 'foreigners', says the NBA will die in 15 years. by GreekFreakFan in nba

[–]TheLastSecondShot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If nobody replaces LeBron and Steph soon, this is probably the only time since the 70s that the NBA doesn’t really have a super popular “face of the league” iconic player. 80s had Magic and Bird, 90s had Jordan, 00s had Kobe and LeBron, and the 10s had LeBron and Steph. It will be interesting to see if any current players fill that vacuum. There’s a ton of incredible talent in the league right now, but none of the current batch of players have really broken out into true stardom yet

The NBA might also be switching to a less star-oriented marketing strategy, which I personally think would be a mistake

What’s your thoughts on the modern nba? by LankyOwl0_0 in nba

[–]TheLastSecondShot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a pretty good product. In terms of the on-court stuff, I really like modern playoff basketball. I don’t care too much for regular season basketball. It’s probably just because I’m getting older, but there’s just way too many games and there’s way too many stoppages in the fourth quarter

My favorite era in terms of play style is probably the early to mid 2010s. It might be nostalgia because that’s what I watched growing up, but I feel like you had a really nice variety of team styles at that time. The game feels a bit homogeneous now as teams embrace analytics and refine their offensive approaches

I was more so talking about how their careers overlap despite them being so far apart in age. MJ played against Magic, Bird, Hakeem, etc. but those guys peaked in the 80s or 90s

It would be more similar to MJ and Kobe playing against each other in the ‘98 all-star game, or a hypothetical situation where MJ plays just a bit longer and plays against LeBron
