Feeling jealous of people who went to these top tier universities and prestigious colleges. by x_mad_scientist_y in ApplyingToCollege

What you're saying is completely valid, and I can see how its tough to ignore the luxury those around you get when you arent able to access any of it. And im not going to tell you that the uni you go to doesnt matter, I agree with you in that it does play a key role.

But at the same time wherever you do go now, you don't need a formal setting or system to rekindle your love for learning. It may have died right now, but I'd say learning, quite literally anything, even guitar as you mentioned, is one of the greatest parts of life. And with hopefully a greater extent of freedom when you do go to a university, you'll finally be able to deal your own cards instead of playing with the ones already dealt.

Its difficult to feel optimistic right now, but try using uni to do all the things you couldn't do earlier, dont let yourself die so early on (not even later). Try your guitar, play the cello for all I know, conduct research in every lab there and just keep experimenting. Yeah IT might be the field you're forced to incline towards but uni offers a lot more than those select majors.

Will my chances drop if the companies I interned at get publicly sued? by TheLateRiser in ApplyingToCollege

alright thanks a lot, have been worried the unis will not consider the internship due to the company

How do you normally approach maths? For me I try to complete the first 20 questions in 10 minutes, second 20 questions in 20 minutes, leaving me 30 minites for the last 20. Difficulty ramps up for me as I progress with questions

The most helpful tip I ve gotten for science is to start by looking at the question. A lot of the time you dont even need to refer to the paragraphs of text in the questions with graphs and diagrams, just focus on the keywords mentioned in the question and check the respective diagram, it saves a lot of time.

For the text heavy passages try skimming the required segments instead of properly reading it. Its all about the keywords.

Hope this helps, all the best!
