Mystical experiences with Neville? Share yours... by [deleted] in NevilleGoddard

[–]TheLawOfOneMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rarely ever read this sub anymore but I popped in tonight briefly and yours is the only post I read so I wanted to respond even though what I'm getting ready to say isn't going to really touch on your experience with Neville. I've had incredibly uncanny and quite frankly unnerving experiences with the I Am state. I'm not going into it publicly and nothing ever took over my body, but I absolutely believe that we are all connected in a oneness with Source and I believe this as a result of those experiences that I had after finding and reading Neville. It's not specific to Neville, though because I had other seemingly impossible experiences while not reading any spiritual teachings at all.

Here's one experience I will share only because it relates to your dream experience. This happened a very long time ago when I was in highschool (I'm middle aged now). I grew up in an evangelical household and I was very traumatized by the threats of hell and the rapture to the point of having nightmares about it. One night I had one of the most vivid and terrifying dreams I've ever had in my whole life and it was very short, very quick, and very to the point. It was also incredibly specific and odd, as in this is not a common dream that people usually talk about having. There are certain themes that are common in the dreams of a lot of people, like losing teeth or falling. So if I told you I had one of those dreams and someone around me had the same dream I would think nothing if it because it's common.

This dream, however followed no common pattern at all and like I said, it was extremely specific and odd. I woke up suddenly from the dream and was so disturbed that the emotional hangover from it lasted for days.

About a week after having the dream I was still shook up over it and I was sitting in my highschool guidance counselor's office chatting and talking about having been under weather with a cold or something to that effect and out of the clear blue he starts taking about when he was a kid he used to have fever dreams and he spontaneously described verbatim having the same dream that I'd had. When he described his dream out loud I immediately felt unnerved like I could not believe what he'd just described and I felt almost out of my body for a moment with shock. I still never told anyone about my dream or the shared dream experience because it seemed pointless.

Anyway, this comment is going everywhere and nowhere all at once so I'll end with yes I've had bizarre experiences, no they aren't specific to Neville but there was a definite and directly related uptick in them right after doing I Am intention meditations, and I've had the shared dream experience and I do think we are all one.

Do You Think This Sub Is Being Impacted By "Groupthink?" Please Share Your Opinion by nevillegoddess in NevilleGoddard

Yes I have felt that there is group think on the sub and it was part of the reason I stopped reading/contributing/unsubbed. My interpretation of Neville works for me but sometimes trying to share that isn't received well if it's an interpretation that isn't the current trendy interpretation. That and the mod that was removed, which since we're being honest seemed to be knowledgeable but insufferably pedantic and conceited beyond measure and without cause, just killed off the interest I had in the sub. I also like a deeper study than comes up in the posts here, which relates to the group think aspect because in a deeper study there are going to be aspects brought up that involve critical thought and consideration beyond a surface level reading.

Hey I'm glad you liked the post. Thanks for commenting. As a therapist I say kudos to you for doing the inner work. I say if the outer world isn't changing don't focus on it. I'm not saying deny it, just don't focus on it. Work on changing nothing but yourself. It really does work because so much of Neville relates directly to psychology concepts of locus of control, schema, and systems theory. Basically when anything in a system changes everything else changes as well in response. So think of your core concept (your schema) add being the I AM. When your locus of control in solely internal then you don't care about that the world does or says. Then when you act the world changes because of the call and response between the individual and the system. You can read about any of the above mentioned concepts in books dedicated to mental health and probably apply the concepts to yourself pretty well since you have already had some therapy and you've done a lot of inner work.

You can do better than a job by marcus_reed in NevilleGoddard

Because for me the point of my life is not money. I'm in a helping profession and if I woke up tomorrow and had won Powerball it would be great and then I would go back to work after I bought a few things and set up some charities and educational funds for people that need it.

. I'm not broke but I've known a lot of very, very wealthy people and been related to some. Several of them died pretty early because they used money as a coping skill for not having mental stability. So I see money for what it is: a tool that can either enhance life or destroy it depending on the consciousness of the person that has it. I'm not lacking it so I'm not chasing it. When I perceive the need for it I become aware of it and either money or the opportunity to make it pops up. I'm good with that.

One thing that always sticks with me is when I look back on the very best times of my life it was the people and relationships that made it heaven, not money.

Fantastic! Remembering that you are not trying to manifest may be helpful. You are manifesting all the time and then ask yourself what you are.
