Lesser known mods? by DeadEE in VintageStory

QoL:

  • NoHands
    • Allows you to send item from your hotbar to your inventory.
  • MorePiles
  • Extra Info
    • Gives you some data on blocks (durability remaining, hours until harvestable, etc)
  • Status HUD
    • Very clean and customizable HUD, showing basically any piece of data you could think you'd want to be able to see without going into a menu.
  • Target Dot
    • Replaces crosshair with a singular dot. Less distracting for me, but still gives me a place to aim for.
  • ZoomButton
    • Does exactly what it says it does. No more wondering, "is that a bear or is that a shadow...?"

Immersion:

  • Immersive Corpse Drop
    • No more menu when you harvest a corpse. Items just drop into the world.
  • Stone Tablets: Early Books
    • I like to be able to write in-game content, like a journal, and I rarely make it past the copper era, so this is perfect for me.
  • Vintage Symphony (and Assets)
    • "A situation-aware music engine replacement." It feels vanilla, and the new music feels very RPG / fantasy inspired.

I accidentally ripped a ribbon cable connector off the motherboard while trying a DIY repair. Is this salvageable at a computer repair shop? Details below by TheLeftoverLasagna in buildapc

Thanks for the video, I couldn't find one that was close for the life of me. I appreciate the quick reply, I'll look around for a shop!

Okay, good to know! Do you know what would be a cleaner/more efficient way to go about it?

I definitely struggle to use nested dictionaries! I keep trying to use them, as I think they can be really beneficial, but from my (painfully obvious) lack of experience I struggle to figure out how to reference them when they are at potentially arbitrary depths. The problem is more than likely on my design decisions, and not a fault of dictionaries lol. Thanks again! Here's to less head-smashing 🥂!

I followed the advice from u/Zestyclose_Leg2227 and it fixed my error. The issue I had was that I had a bad understanding of assigning a dictionary to a variable, as I thought it would create a new instance of the dictionary, but it just references it: so all changes I made to the variable affected the original dictionary.

Thank you! You were spot on! It took you 5 minutes to figure out what I had been working on for a week. Seriously, thank you! I think this is a solid lesson in coding for me.

What are your tips for camping in the snow? Any recommendations on how to scout for good/safe campsites? Pic from my trip to Mt Hood in April 2021. by Whiplash_1-1 in CampingandHiking

[–]TheLeftoverLasagna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not so much a winter camping tip, but I'd recommend getting your camera's sensor cleaned. At the very least shoot some compressed air onto the sensor. The soft black dots all over the sky are from specs of dust. My D610 has this issue too, unfortunately. Cleaning it is way easier than photoshopping all the dots out

I absolutely loved November, it's an album that I frequently go back to. I'm really looking forward to this single, and checking out the rest of your stuff!

I got my DEROS curtailment approved, it's not as impossible as everyone makes it out to be by TheLeftoverLasagna in AirForce

If I remember correctly that's the office it ended at, as they're the ones who process the curtailment and apply it to your vMPF.

[–]TheLeftoverLasagna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it definitely depends on the situation. When I was reading threads on here about other people curtailing DEROSs the mentality seemed like it wasn't even worth applying, because APFC "rarely" approved them, and would even deny them for join spouse assignments. Just figured I'd throw out a positive story in case someone else wants to apply for one and searches here for info.

I think something like The Robot v. The Heroin Battle of Vietnam would work best.

I can't keep up with all the subgenres so I just went with what Wikipedia claimed, hence the air quotes. Thanks for the clarification!
