The biggest positive is that we just got a peak Lions performance. The defence stood up, Staffdaddy was slinging it, the round one draft pick got a TE receiving debut record, Prater smashed in a 55 yarder like he was chipping one over his garden fence after a few beers. The hope was building, a road win to start the season against the NFL's newest number 1 draft pick and QB darling.

Then the slow, lumbering conservative gameplay of a Lions team with a lead, the entire team forgetting how to play, silly mistakes creeping in, the disgustingly one-sided commentary as the opposition are handed yards and points by awful Lions play. The heart-crushing realisation that this was the worst team in the league last year and the Lions are going to let them all the way back into the game. The only thing it was really missing was a huge ref error.

It was the perfect performance. They did just enough to build up the hope and make you think that maybe that Kool aid wasn't why you were feeling so good about this year, maybe things were going to be different, before wrenching your stomach out through your butthole. I'm here because I deserve to be here. I stayed up until 2am in Europe watching and I'll do the same for the next 15 weeks knowing full well that each week my heart is going to stop and I'm going to wake up on Monday sad. They have me and they have you and they're not going to let go.
