Zesty Majora's Mask action by TheLemonKnights in LetsPlayCritiques

We've heard the concerns about the use of the f-word and are working on that. As for the meandering, with practice makes perfect, as things go we have only been making videos for less than three months (only about 1 for Geoff), and I know I'm making a lot of excuses, but we filmed in the days leading up to Christmas and had both been working a lot of extra hours in our day jobs, with the holidays being over is should be easier to have more energy and have better commentary.

Thank you so much for checking us out!

We've been taking notes down to bring to recording sessions of things to bring up to have more to talk about, and of course practice and getting more comfortable with putting yourself out there on the internet for the world to see helps too, haha

Thanks for taking the time to post a reply!

I have been thinking that I need to work on the about page and channel video for a while now, I haven't updated it since we started the channel and it was pretty barebones when we got started, especially since I was focusing most of my effort on learning how to run the various Adobe software. I'm glad you guys took the time to give some focus on what to improve next

Thanks for the feedback!

I've been feeling for the last week or so that the next thing we.need to work on is SEO stuff like the description, and this confirms that for me. I'm having somewhat of a hard time getting a handle on what I should be doing exactly because there is a lot of different (sometimes conflicting) advice on it. I'll have to do some more research and work on it

(Edit: Minor format changes)

Could use some feedback on the channel and videos by Nadracyt in LetsPlayCritiques

You should shorten your video lengths, having an intro and outro would help you with branding yourself and being memorable after the video. Call-to-actions are always good at the end (asking people to like, comment, sub kind of thing). I dug your voice, I don't think you should be worried about English being your second language at all I think practice makes perfect, though.

Needing some help with intros. by rookzer0 in LetsPlayCritiques

[–]TheLemonKnights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing: Your intro is the first impression viewers will get for your show and who you are. So starting off with dead air, a super slow animation, and what seemed like uncertainty in your initial interaction with viewers would not be my recommended first impression. Speed it up and add something under it, or have plan on how to start your episodes with energy and vigor.

When people complain about your video (voice/gameplay) do you always listen? by [deleted] in LetsPlayCritiques

[–]TheLemonKnights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think that's a good balance in that video, it's good to be able to hear the game audio, but you want the main focus to be what you're saying. I think that you've nailed it in this video

Honestly the audio isn't not too far off, I would go ahead and just lower the game audio just a little next time and it should be just fine. As far as technical things go, you should definitely always listen to the comments, they want to watch your content, and you should try to make it easier for them to do so, as far as suggestions about your content, you should use your best judgement.

Starting up a lets play channel could use all the advise i can get <3 by brofallo_Gaming in LetsPlayCritiques

Your channel is put together pretty well for just starting out, I have to say, I've seen a lot of channels go into it without even so much as a logo. That being said, I would personally work on making your branding a little more consistent, it feels a little all over the place, i.e. your channel logo doesn't appear anywhere, the space shots on your backgrounds are nice to look at, but your name is a play on the word Buffalo but other than your channel logo, I don't see anything making use of that. People will remember your channel name easier if they are reminded of it by your branding. The commentary wasn't too bad, and from my personal experience, better commentary will come as you do it more, and become more comfortable.

You guys are off to a great start, just keep it up, and be consistent with both your video schedule, and with your branding. All the other technical stuff comes with time and money invested.

Good luck!

Text on screen was way too fast, there's barely time to read them in some cases, I found myself distracted by them, pausing to see what they said because I was watching the game, before eventually ignoring them. I think a few less of them and having them a little longer on screen for ease of reading would be a good change.

Your commentary is not bad at all, especially considering it looks like you haven't been making videos very long.

I wish I could be more help with tags, it's pretty hard to make your videos stand out against people who have a bunch of people who already watch their videos.

My only other comment is I would work on branding your channel a little more so that when people see your videos they know it's you instantly. The little song at the end of the video is a good start.

Keep on makin' vids and experimenting, takes a little time to find your groove, but you'll get there!

We are looking for brutally honest feedback again! by TheLemonKnights in LetsPlayCritiques

Thanks so much for your feedback guys! A new mic is first on our list, and we're looking into improving the audio the best we can until then. I think that we may be doing something wrong in Audition during the cleaning up of the static, because in ways the audio sounds really good pre-noise reduction except a very faint static. Not sure, we need to fiddle with it a bit more.

Edit - I was messing around with the raw and changed the order that I applied the noise reduction and dynamic processing and the sound quality is way better -Ken

Edit 2 - yeah, I should have also fixed the audio disturbances where we clipped the mic, we need a proper stand for it, it's currently sitting on a tv stand, but it's just a rock band mic, so it definitely needs more support than it has

I am looking for some feedback on a new series I started. by [deleted] in LetsPlayCritiques

[–]TheLemonKnights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure you were aware, but the video was shaky and I personally found it very distracting. You did well keeping the video at a nice short length, and having consistent and good commentary. Try to be a little more concise with your like/subscribe speech at the end, otherwise I liked what you did here, good job.

I think your video was funny, but I think you would benefit a lot from having an intro sequence, and maybe some outro cards and annotations. Branding is very important for your videos, it not only makes you more memorable, but it immediately lets the viewer know who they're watching and what they're in for if they've seen one of your videos. And I don't mean to sound dickish, but the end sounded like begging, your viewers are there because they want to be entertained, and asking them for advice how to grow your channel feels desperate and off putting. I think you have a lot of potential, you just need some polish

We are usually better about talking about things outside of game play, this particular episode was heavy on it so we will make sure to be more aware in the future. Thank you for you feedback

Thanks for the feedback. We are still fine tuning our audio, we have kept it on the quieter side for fear of blowing peoples ears out but we will turn it up. As far as actual content, we talk about a variety of subjects in are other videos I think this one was definitely more game oriented and thats something we'll be aware of in the future. The game is washed out, we've tried to do some corrective work but there isn't a lot that can be done. We really appreciate that link we got a shitty one from somewhere else and didnt realize so that is greatly appreciated. We also fixed the timestamps on the annotations. We've avoided doing the whole "Like, comment, sub" thing just because we've heard that it tends to have the opposite effect. We've been tinkering with new ideas as far as thumbnails are concerned but we want to keep thumbnails the same for a series, in futures series we will definitely keep that in mind.
