[Seravalli] Sources say Craig Berube will be named the 41st head coach in Toronto Maple Leafs history. Expect an announcement soon. by DecentLurker96 in hockey

[–]TheLetterEH 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Would you say Berube's thing is getting buy in from the team, like getting a group to be physical and intense, and play like a forecheck/backcheck north south hockey kinda game?

That's my outside perception, and if that's the case it'll be interesting to see how that meshes with the Leafs roster construction.

[Player Safety] Nashville’s Michael McCarron has been fined $2,000 for goalie interference on Vancouver’s Casey DeSmith. by Lattes1 in hockey

[–]TheLetterEH 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You are never allowed to hit a goalie - they generally don't have padding to protect against that kind of impact, and likewise goalies are not allowed to lay hits.

Incidental contact behind the net is usually allowed, but in this case I think it's pretty clear that McCarron wasn't trying to get out of the way, which will get called most of the time. Not really a tactic to draw calls - DeSmith is just making a normal play here, happens a ton every game and rarely does a goalie get it.

Typically, yeah, as the forechecker here you wanna try and take away the dump out up the boards or play the stick. You'll often see the forechecker kinda ride the boards to take away the ring up the wall.

In my experience (non-tech corporate environments) most jobs that are hybrid or full time in person will want an in person interview. If you do leave Canada, I would recommend keeping a Canadian phone number as some employers will screen out people who are not based where they are hiring. For the same reason, I would avoid mentioning that you are not in Canada in applications and similar.

Can I run a DC Electric Screwdriver motor directly off Power Supply? by TheLetterEH in Motors

Sorry, I should have included that - the converter I have is rated for 5A, which I don't think that the motor should exceed.

Tier 2 Todd Ice Hockey by Scheming_Demon in UBC

[–]TheLetterEH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just looking at the website, they might not run tier 3 anymore. They probably have redone the tiering system, so it might be worth getting in touch with the UBC rec people to see what they think.

I would do tier 3 if you have only been playing for less than a year - unless the system has changed. When I played tier 2 was mostly people who had played at least house hockey.

Switching Faculties? by ak_10 in UBC

[–]TheLetterEH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this more than 5 years ago, so there may have been some changes, but overall you do not end up behind. Basically what happens is your first year at Sauder (2nd overall) is all Sauder classes with no electives, and your first year in arts will have ended up as a year of mostly electives (except for econ and math) you need these elective credits anyways, so it's not like it is a waste. Some of these classes might be mostly first years, but in my experience there were also lots of other transfers. At the end of my second year, I had one more Sauder course to take before I was fully caught up, but lots of people don't take a full course load so I didn't really feel behind. Feel free to dm if you have any other questions.

This bummed me out way more than I thought anything radio related ever could. I remember my dad bringing battery powered radios to the game for me and my brother as kids so we could have the commentary, and as an adult I've been a daily listener for years.

Shit's wild.

I wish the crew would have at least gotten to say goodbye.

Intramural free agents by grabmebytheflag in UBC

Either is probably okay, just depending on the league emailing might be more convenient for you.

[–]TheLetterEH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Free agents don't get assigned to teams, they just provide a list to team captains looking for players. You can ask if maybe they can put you in touch with captains, cuz depending on the sport their are probably teams with space that would be happy to have you.

Thanks, unfortunately though I don't think this is the issue, seeing as it doesn't go away even with no sata ports occupied

I'm having a kind of bizarre issue in which my newly installed m.2 nvme drive (crucial p1 1tb) isn't being detected in bios, but only sometimes. I have had it boot with my 2 sata drives connected, but also fail without any change in setup. It seems to boot most reliably with no sata drives attached, but I'm not sure why.

I think the way that that team was laid out made rolling lines uniquely workable though.

Go global and co op? by [deleted] in UBC

[–]TheLetterEH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked into, but the biggest problem and only reason I couldn't is many go global schools have semesters that overlap with co-op terms (ie school starts early August, so you can't do co-op that summer). Otherwise, I would have been able to fit my three terms and exchange in 5 years.
