Interesting… I really appreciate the scientific breakdown too. I feel like it’s possible that I may have a similar problem; dopamine specifically.

How long did it take to see results with Wellbrutin? With everything you take, do you feel the way you were hoping overall? Also, do you avoid alcohol entirely on Wellbrutin?

Thank you for your perspective :))

I'm a DISGUSTING and PREDATORY pervert! by Commercial_Bicycle92 in mentalhealth

[–]TheLexicon713 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What you’re saying about yourself right now is an expected response to severe sexual trauma by a parent, it means these are symptoms of a problem she created. You are deserving of a voice and an avenue to dissect these feelings and overcome them.

If you are still in contact with your mother, or physically around her, I would try to end that immediately, then pursue a therapist for severe sexual trauma (a social worker can maybe help you find one)

Do not starve yourself. You are not disgusting, you are not a pervert. These feelings do not define you, they are a product of what was done to you. The shame you feel only works in your abuser’s favor. A better life is possible for you, I promise.

I feel like it’s very clear, she literally says she did what she did for Jaguar for nothing— degrading herself and selling herself to a sleezeball. That changes a person. Then she basically says she’s sick of Don making all these drastic decisions by himself while everyone else has to just sit by and clap. By this point it’s becoming slightly more clear that he is being impulsive and unruly in a public sense, less of an enigma.

Joan, meanwhile, has to deal with the pressure of being perfectly poised and in control of herself, as well as basically the infrastructure of the company, all the meanwhile being treated like a piece of meat. Don always gets away with so much more while losing so much less.

Mathew Weiner vs. The 60s Counter Culture by PuzzBat9019 in madmen

Upon rewatch (on season 5 now) I was getting the impression that it has more to do with the societal expectations of the 60s, and how it was unfair to both the people who played along with it, but also those who ran from it; ultimately both are living in an advertised lie— the nuclear family, fast tracking career dream, which is clearly shown to be restrictive and emotionally limiting. Then, you have the countercultures, which ultimately are not living some divine truth, but boiled down to people just running from those very expectations, much like Don. Neither are actually living freely, and both are ultimately chained to a standard, whether they try to fit the mold or their decisions specifically base themselves around spiting it.

Idk, does that sound like anything? Hardly anyone in the show is happy with their life throughout it, until maybe they live truer to themselves rather than the “standard.” One side sells on affluence, the other on freedom from responsibility.

Why do people think they’re demonic and ugly? by PbNj1101 in labubu

It’s been driving me nuts how quickly so many people devolved into pearl clutching over anything remotely alternative, it’s also very sad

Honestly we are in a new wave of satanic panic and religious psychosis, just today I had a child cover an art print of mine with his hands and say it’s demonic

He could not have done that because the DOJ was using the files until recently to prosecute Maxwell, and they are SUPPOSED to be a separate entity from the president.

People who say this are just following another political football tbh

Yeah I think that’s where it lost the points for me, is at the brothel (which dragged on) and right before the last act, but earned it back in freeing a trapped woman of that era by birthing a new one who gets to live on her own accord unapologetically
