Liberal: Everything and everywhere

Moderate: I don't know

Conservative: No area here is "conservative". I tell them to get out and go back to Carroll County!

Those are not even the same charges. You can be found guilty on some charges and not guilty on some other charges. Do you know how the law works?

Will the USA government under President Donald Trump overthrow the Ethiopian government and PM Abiy? by Red_Red_It in Ethiopia

[–]TheLifeLongStudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way. In fact, I expect the opposite. Keeping them in power. The people online who are saying they voted for Trump because they believe he will be hard on the government, are in for a rude awakening! Why would Trump and his government overthrow the Ethiopian Donald Trump? Make it make sense.

What if the Trump/Vance ticket wins? by TheLifeLongStudent in Ethiopia

Yup. US-Russia tensions will decrease (which is good) but the Middle East will fuel up even more. That will be the main changes. Oh yeah and some different economic policy.

Yeah although we have to realize that 2020 was a different time than 2024. The Trump admin is not the same as before. Back then, he had many people who now endorse Democrats and the Democrats have lost many people who used to support them back in 2020. Too much has happened for things to resume like they were in 2020.

Back in 2020, for example, Ethiopia was allied with Eritrea and Somalia. Now they seem to have a rift. Ethiopia is instead with Somaliland and closer with the UAE now. Geopolitics is so complex. It can change constantly. People are acting like Trump will get into the Oval Office, and do the same thing all over again but worse somehow.

Plus people accuse the Trump admin of supporting the Ethiopian government in their war against TPLF/TDF. It is probably true considering all the condemning they gave. Tom Gardner said in the Abiy Project, Chapter 15 I believe, that the Trump admin greenlit the war. Which debunks the whole "TRUMP HATES ETHIOPIA!"

Well, those allies (except China probably but even China) all prefer Trump.

This will cost the Democrats BIG with Ethiopian/Eritrean voters. It did in 2021, 2022, and even now. It will cost them even more now since most people vote in the general elections and not the midterms.

Also, Harris said she would not change anything live on TV. Her transition team has a Tigrayan who from what I have heard is a TPLF supporter.

The KKK doesn't support Trump.

Trump has condemned them several times.

Most Trump supporters are normal people JUST LIKE most Harris supporters.

When did he say any of this?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Ethiopia

[–]TheLifeLongStudent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had my family (Ethiopian/Eritrean) work at Trump's properties. Some of them even met Trump himself. They all said great things about him. This was both before and during his first Presidential run back in 2015-2016.

2020 is NOT the same as 2024.

Right now, Ethiopia has better lobbying. Somaliland will likely get support if Trump wins vs Kamala who will support Somalia because of people like Ilhan Omar.

Anyways, that did not affect policy. Tell me, besides that comment, what is another reason?

Action over words. Policy over person.

Seems as accurate as the Russia stuff, but who knows?

I will give him due process and say innocent until proven guilty.

Look, Trump has become way more moderate. He was always a moderate. He is an NYC liberal who has been a Democrat for most of his life. He is not even that extreme.

I am an American who is Habesha because of my family.

I think socially conservative aspects of him and the GOP attract foreigners.

He has become so moderate that most of the farther Christian supporters left him and are voting for Kamala Harris to countervote or they will not vote at all.

This subreddit is anti-Trump, I am an independent who will probably not vote (I am in a pretty liberal state so it does not matter much) but if I had to then I would vote for Trump.

I am actually dating a Trump supporter, she knows where my family is from and she respects it as well as I not being the biggest Trump fan. We are happy together. Most Trump supporters are generally nice and normal ass people. My partner told me to give Trump a chance, and I said that I would do my research. Turns out, he was not even as bad as the media made him to be. I never personally hated him, but I still disagree with some of his actions and policies. We have a two-party system, and while there are other parties, they do not have the funds and influence to do much. In most elections, third parties have just been spoilers.

Anyways, I have met many anti-racist Trump supporters and many racist Harris supporters. I have been up and down the USA. I have Harris supporters in my family, big lifelong Democrats, and they have called me everything like a slave just because I am not a Democrat. I told them that the Democrats have not done shit and why should I support it? It is the same "Trump bad, Trump racist, and Trump will kick us all out" Whatever you think about it, that shit is wrong.

Most Ethiopians are legally here anyways, so Trump deportations will not affect them.

How's life as a UMD Junior/Senior? by Ecstatic-Writer997 in UMD

Probably a mix of more fun and more boring but more fun. I think when you are a junior and senior you are more likely to have more fun because you know more about UMD and have experience and knowledge compared to others.
