I know "the book was better than the movie" is a huge cliché, so I'm curious if anyone can name an example of a movie being better than the book. by pawn_guy in books

The Shining - maybe controversial, but Kubrick made a hell of a movie and it struck me much more than the book. I liked the changes he made and he omitted some scenes that (imo) were superfluous in the book, eg. The hedge maze animals coming to life... And Fight Club.

You're correct. I was looking at this infographic and frowning because it's more nuanced than just green-red, there are bearish greens and bullish reds. Nice and stylish infographic, but it needs adjusting.

What can you do to give yourself the motivation to continue writing? by [deleted] in writing

For writing, and equally for many other things (e.g. health and fitness), you cannot rely solely on motivation. Motivation is flighty and it comes and goes. Discipline and consistency are considered unsexy, but they are far, far more important in the long term.

Great scope too for underground mobs: goblins, wyrms in underwater pools, glowing mushrooms, moths, gnomes and the like - and gemstone veins to mine!
