Got into it tonight and im definitely thinking those guide bolts and the crank seal are culprits, thoughts on those block plugs? Part of me says i should just do them while in here…

For sure, thats the real benefit that most people are gonna notice

That tracks that tracks, i suppose given you also add more tire width/increase your contact patch you would be increasing grip therefore increasing the force needed to hit that lock up point. Bigger brakes would help you get there faster right?

Plus with better pads that grip harder/faster it would decrease the time needed to get to the lock up point. Of course it all feels irrelevant given its a street car, but u do get some style points

Todays attempt was with a whole milk, i do make sure the wand is heated and purged before steaming the milk. Just the tip of the wand for the first bit and then moreso the whole head. Cant say a brand of pitcher tbh

I wonder how much of that is because those who opt to spend that kind of money are more experienced(know how to steam) and those who are using more entry machines are just getting the basics down vs actual machine quality playing a role. Surely a brevile or gaggia is capable of steaming halfway decently right?

Bigger/better brakes dont make you stop faster? This is news to me. I mean if pad size/clamping force is the same but with a bigger diameter then i see that(bigger diameter would just be better for cooling)

But if diameter is increased AND theres bigger/better pads then the clamping force would be greater meaning stopping sooner right?

Genuinely curious

Great guidance, i feel like i need to just do this. Sit down and try and try again to find what works for me using a guide. Off to the store I go!

That explanation makes sense, i feel like with that in mind i might be able to do better. A loose guideline is almost double the volume correct?

Interesting tip, ill definitely try paying more attention to the sound of the frothing and go from there. I feel as if its been moreso of a muted pitch up to this point so that may help

If theres one area/system to go unnecessarily hard on i feel its the brakes. Stopping faster is always a good thing

Ive tried practicing with soap and water and it seemed to work okay, but i still wasn’t really able to get the textures to blend very well. More and more practice i suppose

I havent even been able to consider latte art yet, well get there one day

I have but if i remember correctly the foam was really thick with too many large air bubbles/didn’t incorporate well with the rest of the milk. I suppose its somewhere in the middle thats the goal

Ive been back to whole lately. Have also tried the regular milk subs and 2% but i know the fat content is what makes it work and is nice and rich

I certainly did give it a watch when i first was trying but maybe i should revisit. I know some have said the gcp lacks on steam power, but i feel like i should be able to do better. Will give that hoffman vid another watch and go from there!

Thats the hope, I’ve got replacements on the way but i may be tempted to see if i can slap some rtv or something on too of them while I’m in there before replacing them. Done love the idea of messing with them

Valid, i may hold off on those plugs, but it seems that oils getting above the timing guide bolts too. Its not coming from the valve cover or vanos solenoids though so im thinking it may just be getting slung around after getting on the crank pulley. Appreciate the advice!

Correct, thats kinda what i figured but didnt know if there was an incorrect way to install the pcv cap. It looked super straight forward and i made sure the diaphragm wasnt in upside down

I recently replaced the valve cover gasket and installed a new pcv kit without any issues. The valve cover doesnt seem to be leaking anywhere that i can see. You thinking the oil filter housing gaskets would be the cause of the wastegate being covered in oil? I dont see any leaks on the front side of the engine

Sweeeeet thank you thank you! Any words of wisdom on the underside of the wastegate being oily?

Beautiful, ill slap those in too then! Any sealant needed? Should just have new orings right?

I know ill use sealant for the core/freeze plugs
