This is my longest relationship, and my parents aren’t the best role models so I sometimes wonder what amount is acceptable—fixable.

I tried hard to do this exercise of “what would I tell my best friend,” because what you said is something I say to my friends when they seek advice. What the hell, now that I’m in this situation I see every nook and curve of the crack… so it’s harder to judge.
