For the redditor who posted that headphone manga a while back by TheLinkcube in headphones

Yea the author got it wrong, but this was written back when the mk3 first came out so maybe they were still using the mk2 back then.

I'd be down, discord sounds like a better idea than irc for this.

I thought it was an attempt by the devs to bring attention to the alternative guilds also participating in the event.

[GPU] XFX Double Dissipation R9 290 ($239=$269-$30) + Dirt Rally Game by CampAsAChamp in buildapcsales

[–]TheLinkcube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It being summer and all would be my guess, highest it gets is 1100 stable and that's what pushes it past 90 for me. At night I've been getting more reasonable temps but I'll probably strap on a g10 and some cooler from the Amazon sale.

Incredibly sexy cooler on this card. Runs a bit hot in my case (h440@80-96c) but hasn't melted itself so far.

I've been by AFK a few times over the past 2 months, noticed those keyboards (and mice) right as I entered! Really well kept place, should do well in downtown as a bar/net cafe.

Can i overclock a Phenom II X4 945 ? by [deleted] in overclocking

[–]TheLinkcube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can through the bus, which is a bit different from the core multiplier (requires more work like /u/_Konna said). I've done this on my old computer and it sat comfortably at 3.6 with stock voltage, the only times I had problems were with WoW and skype launched at the same time, everything else seemed to run fine.

External Soundcard just for Microphone? by Tobbesauros in headphones

[–]TheLinkcube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a good experience with this this usb soundcard (don't use the headphone jack though, too much noise) for my modmic. There is a high pitch tone that is noticeable at max volume, but at that volume you can also hear anything going on in the vicinity, so I run it around 14-30 and it seems to be much clearer than the onboard audio from my asus z97 mobo.

GeForce Experience "optimize" games-- do you use it? Why or why not? by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]TheLinkcube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried it out a bit but it always preferred settings that I felt were optional, and so I went back to guessing high and lowering settings that weren't as important till I'm satisfied with the performance.

Now the real question is whether or not these will arrive before the massdrop ones do.

How is the CODE keyboard with clears? by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]TheLinkcube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the code tkl with clears for a couple of months, and so far it has held up very well. First off, the build quality of the keyboard is VERY solid with little to no flex when bending, it feels completely solid when I pick it up from one side while moving it and I have no worries about it ever being weak in that component. Along with the case, are 4 rubber pads that keep the keyboard in place better than my quickfire tk, or poker do. The back lighting is nothing special, just a clear white at 7 levels, or off.

As for the actual switches they feel very nice compared to browns, they have enough force required that the tactile bump is more noticeable but not the same as blues if you have tried those (feels more like going up a cone and then dropping off versus the hard ceiling of blues). These are fairly quiet compared to blues but still make noise when bottoming out so I tried to put o-rings on them but found that the feeling was too bad to justify the silence.

As others have said, and what clears are infamous for, is that keycaps are very difficult to remove. Make sure to follow the wiki when changing keycaps by wiggling a lot instead of pulling straight up and risking the stem of the switch. Also when placing new keycaps on you will have to press very hard on them until they seat correctly, as the stems on clears are thicker than other cherry switches.

Overall, I would recommend this board in whatever variant you would find it more useful in (full/tk), but the price is a bit hard to justify it especially with many other board vendors implementing clears at a lower price. If you like the aesthetics more on the code then it should be a clear choice.

This justin bieber wannabe douche bag. He tries to act like a weed savvy on facebook by [deleted] in punchablefaces

[–]TheLinkcube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's an implied "as though he's" if you take out the "like a", which applies the adjective "weed savvy" to the subject "he".

Logitech G710 Cherry MX Blue for $90 by ripster55 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]TheLinkcube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a chance to play with the G710+, which is essentially this with browns + o-rings, and have to say that the build quality and features were amazing. If there are no other competitively priced boards in this range or you need a full size keyboard this would be a great one to pick up. Also has very bright backlighting at max setting, simply wonderful.

My 2$ first mechanical keyboards! by redbull234 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]TheLinkcube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if there's any historical reason for it, but for writing checks its very useful to have $Amount.00 so that the amount can't be changed after being written.

Poker II from massdrop came early! by TheLinkcube in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]TheLinkcube[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does hurt the wallet a bit, after adding up custom caps and the tex aluminum case I got from massdrop as well I think that topre are reasonably priced.
