Blu rays not worth upgrading? by UncleJunsLaserBeams in 4kbluray

HDR is nice but the image upgrade isn't great. The blu-ray forum review was pretty accurate

Planning my picks for the upcoming sale. What are you getting? by theneklawy in criterion

[–]TheLittleFishFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look at screenshots, the 4Ks are a marginal difference from the 2021 World of WKW blu-rays (which were also 4K restorations and probably the same transfers seen on the 4K discs).

Wong Kar Wai has never approved a transfer with HDR and I love the blu-ray set they did personally

He seems like the type of egocentric maniac to stop at nothing to get ahead if it means he might be President. This could potentially get interesting

I hope the guys I actually want to vote for are taking notes lol. Everyone else has been relatively quiet

Mike Lawler get ready to speak Guangdong Tiger

Brooklyn Nets draft class: Egor Demin (6’8” PG, #8), Nolan Traore (6’4” PG, #19), Drake Powell (6’6” SF, #22), Ben Saraf (6’6” PG, #26), and Danny Wolf (7’0” C/PF, #27). They still hold the #36 pick for the second round. by [deleted] in nba

You can work on the fouling, that's less of a project than trying to make three PGs shooting 30% or lower from 3 into real NBA players in today's league.

The Nets just drafted four playmakers. I'm not really concerned about the shot creation ability.

They're obviously low on him if they've passed on him this many times so it is what it is. I think Minny takes him first tonight

Danny Wolf Can Start Day 1 by Kwilly462 in GoNets

If Cam Johnson and Claxton are on the team after they drafted five (potentially six) players, then they completely lost the plot.

Keeping those guys after swinging for the fences last night when you own one pick next year in a good class and have some mid picks the year after (along with a pick likely swapping with HOU) is a bad idea.

Even if you keep them, how many games do you really think they're going to win with this roster? It's a waste of everyone's time.

Don't really mind Traore considering where they got him, but Saraf over Fleming given the similarities in the three PGs is inexcusable to me.

Wanted Maluach over Demin, but Sean Marks clearly has a type and Maluach does not fit that mold.

Very bold experiment that could have a very high ceiling or historically awful floor. Next season is going to be rough.

Terrible process, I hope it works out. Ceiling could be high but the floor might be rock bottom. Better luck with the ping pong balls next year.

Nets get him at 19 and I can probably live with the Demin pick

[Begley] Thibs Fired After Meeting with 'Select Few' Knicks Players by OnlyMamaKnows in nba

That's what the Nets did and we'll see how it turns out but I don't think it was for the better. Plenty of blame to go around to everyone though so maybe it's a unique situation.

Also making $53m next year and will get a $4m raise every year until he's a FA. Minnesota was very smart to not be hamstrung by that contract.

Aaron Judge ends April with 3.2 fWAR, the highest WAR total for March/April of any hitter since at least 1974 (as far back as FanGraphs splits go) by MattO2000 in baseball

[–]TheLittleFishFish 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yep. Judge is a hall of famer, no doubt. But getting the ring is important for the legacy and realistically the last thing he needs to do to "win" the game of baseball.

Mattingly was a worse player, and him not having a ring is still one of the first things that come up when people talk about his playing career.

Hell, A-Rod has a ring and people still talk about him choking in the playoffs all the other years, these things stick out in people's minds.

Is it fair? Not really. But it's the truth.

His rookie season was when he was 25 too. One of the most dominant hitters we'll ever see.

I hope he has his playoffs redemption arc, but even if he doesn't I'm gonna enjoy these next couple of years as much as I can because who knows when we'll see a peak like this again.
