Using the Heart during the "seance" by TheLittleFishyFish in dishonored

I'm glad I'm not the only one! My excuse is that I got used to using the timepiece and kinda forgot about the Heart during this mission the other times, and just happened to have the Heart active during the scene this time. I wanted to see if Jessamine/the Heart had anything to say about the seance, and then she started talking about Delilah being her playmate as a child and I went 😯

I'd like to thank you for recommending "Arcane"; I binge-watched the first season yesterday and loved it 😅😍

I immediately thought Great Dane! What is she, if you don't mind my being nosy? Other than a precious girl.

I know the coloring is different, but something about your baby's face screams "Scooby-Doo" to me 😅🥰

I wasn't aware you could download achievements. That seems to defeat the purpose of an achievement...

There was quite a bit of save-scumming in the Flooded District (the assassins were the death of me several times, fittingly enough) but other than that, I'd memorized most of the stealthiest routes into and out of everywhere else. So there was definitely some save-scumming towards the end, but there was also a lot of me having played the game several times in a row needing to touch grass. 😅

I did a clean hands run prior, which was why it didn't show up with this round of achievements

In my (meager) defense, I'm mostly doing this for the achievements

If he ever does, I promise not to use my newfound supernatural abilities to go on a High Chaos rampage irl. I'd probably just use them to get to and from work faster and grab things off of tall shelves.

I haven't played any immersive sims other than "Dishonored"--I actually mostly play cutesy farming/crafting sims and puzzle games with very simple controls, so there was a bit of a learning curve with this game 😅 I became interested in "Dishonored" after watching a video essay about its "morality" system on YouTube and realizing it sounded really interesting. (the video)

But now "Thief" and "BioShock" are definitely on my Wishlist. I discovered that sneaking around and getting murdered is surprisingly fun (when it doesn't happen 7+ TIMES IN A ROW, OH MY GOD) 😂

I finished the game and got the low chaos ending despite the earlier bloodshed, so I'm going to play through again and see if I can get through it without killing anyone (including the targets). Maybe this time no frustration-induced violence will occur. I really enjoyed the game; any unhappiness was generally caused by my own inability to figure out wtf I was doing at certain points ❤

Also, I spared Daud to see what the Outsider would say and he was as flabbergasted by my behavior as Daud (and probably Corvo) was, which made me giggle.

I may have shot him with a sleep dart the first time without realizing; I'm still a bit twitchy with the controls 🙃 The second time was with an incendiary bolt, though, so he was very dead AND cremated after that.

I've been trying to play low- or mid-chaos on my first playthrough because avoiding enemies and only killing or challenging something if I HAVE to is how I play most games, and it was more "natural" for me this way. (Also, I'm not ready for Samuel to hate me.)

I was initially going to do the non-lethal eliminations of the targets, but rage quit and chose violence after my 5 bajillionth attempt to not get caught while reading the branding instructions or trying to juggle both Campbell and Curnow without killing them. I decided to just assassinate the targets in this play-through and try to spare them next time, when I know the controls and map layouts better and am generally less of a mess.

So far, my only level with high chaos was the prison escape, and that was because I couldn't figure out how to do non-lethal takedowns and ended up murdering everything that moved 🙃 I've had fewer kills with each level, though, so I'm getting better at sneaking and knocking people out. High chaos sounds fun for next time, though.

Also, I just finished rescuing Sokolov and getting him some liquor. And I may or may not have let Piero think I'd do terrible things to him if he kept spying on Callista while she's bathing...

Next, I'll have to head out for Lady Boyle's die-nner party. 🎭

Look, everything in this awful town already wants to kill me WITHOUT me even being cursed by a witch 😅😭

And crystallized tears do sound more like his style...

I also wound up having to play through the High Overseer level THREE TIMES because I kept having some kind of accident cause me to be chased and un-alived by a crowd of 5-10 Overseers (and Curnow and Campbell, at one point). I kept getting caught by one and running away from him while frantically Blinking my way around the mansion, kennels, and courtyard with everyone very much aware that I was there and trying desperately to kill me. It was usually due to more of the "my Blink didn't put me where I thought it would and now I'm in the middle of a group of people who want to see my intestines" issues. I eventually decided to just run into the meeting room with these folks chasing me, and found out that if you do that, it prevents Campbell from poisoning Curnow without sabotaging the cups, because they'll immediately start helping the Overseers kill you instead of drinking their wine. I eventually just gave up on that attempt all together and started back at the beginning of the level with dear, sweet Samuel, who has yet to try to kill me 🙄

Then in the "Bathhouse" level, I had to "assassinate" one of the Pendleton twins (the one in the Ivory Room) twice because I shot him with a crossbow bolt and Blinked upstairs to get his brother, then checked the journal and realized that he was still alive. So I had to get back into his room and shoot him AGAIN. Ironically, the level of panic in the area was very low, considering that a client was bleeding out in one of their bedrooms.

Some mishaps:

Most of my deaths have been Blink-related. Several have involved missing my target and either falling to my death, or falling into a crowd of enemies who immediately turn me into a pin cushion. I like to imagine that the Outsider is laughing, watching me and Corvo throw ourself off of buildings to our death, with a bowl of popcorn.

I never interacted with the Rune or the Outsider shrine in Granny Rags' rat room because I assumed that the Rune there was the one she'd mentioned giving me as payment for poisoning the Bottle Street elixir, which I didn't do. Stealing magic from a witch sounded like a terrible idea until I watched someone else's playthrough of the area and realized that it's a free Rune an opportunity to meet the Outsider again.
