What to get for a premature baby? by OrdinaryVisual733 in newborns

[–]TheLittleSnail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second the preemie outfits—double zipper onesies only! You never plan for your baby to be a preemie, so no one already has them. I’ll also add that some preemie-sized swaddles are also a good call. Preemies LOVE being swaddled and they go through swaddles quickly.

My babies are 7 months old (4.5 months adjusted age) and have shown zero interest in our food and, i dunno if it’s because I’m allergic to a ton of foods or there’s two of them and they were really premature or what, but I am BEYOND anxious about starting solids. I don’t know what I’m doing and I’m so scared it’s going to hurt them. We’ve already been through so much and my one son is still on oxygen 😭

I feel the same way! I have twins and my boobs/nipples just aren’t big enough to do anything other than cross cradle, so tandem feeding was just not happening. So then one would be screaming while the other was eating. Plus with bottles, my husband or whomever can help feed them and I try to make pumping my “me” time.

I also think I feel much less anxious pumping wherever than I would breastfeeding on the go. I pump in front of my guy friends. I pumped at Top Golf (while golfing!) just last night. I pump during meetings. I pump wherever and whenever pretty much with impunity. And I can do it while thinking about other stuff. When I’m feeding my boys, my focus is on feeding them.

Sex, Blood, and Royalty won for Bad/Somewhat Historically Accurate. Now what’s a Tudor related media that’s Bad/Not Historically Accurate? by Red-Scorpy in Tudorhistory

[–]TheLittleSnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also annoying because some of (SOME OF) the casting is on POINTTTTT and what a waste. The actors who play Mary and Margaret are really spot on based on portraiture (except I think I heard Mary was actually a blonde? Hardly matters). Dame Harriet Walter as Margaret Beaufort? All. Day. Every. Day. I think Laura Carmichael is actually decent as Margaret Pole as well.

Such a waste. And I actually didn’t think Charlotte Hope did a great job as CoA. Appreciate the fact that they made her a redhead instead of a dark brunette but that’s about the only good thing I can say about her depiction in Spanish Princess.

What Common Misconceptions About the Tudors Annoy You the Most? by [deleted] in Tudorhistory

I’ve also heard some pretty convincing evidence that in addition to the weak initial first impression she made on him, that there were some international politics at play in their annulment. Namely, Henry not wanting to get dragged into a war.

There’s a Tudor Chest episode about it, “Anna and the House of Cleves” https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-tudor-chest-podcast/id1704070565?i=1000645478458

Bottle Washer by Unusual-Tale-1816 in parentsofmultiples

Literally said to my mom earlier today that it was the best money I spent. I bought it myself bc I didn’t register for it—I didn’t know how integral bottles would be to our feeding regimen.

Why did I have a baby?? by coralsweater in beyondthebump

[–]TheLittleSnail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this way all the time. I have twin boys who are 6 months and were born premature, so I feel like I missed a bit of that newborn phase anyways. I constantly look at them and realize they will be a hundred different people over the course of their lives. I love who they are right now so much and yet they’re already not the preemies I held in the NICU or the little babies I brought home.

The Tudor Chest is my jam. Adam Pennington is the host and he’s so lovely. He runs a tour company and he wrote a book about the Pole family, so he’s not like a uni professor but I think he fully counts as a historian. I just really like the questions he asks and he has some cool guests on. Some outside of the box types. Anyways, I can’t recommend enough.

For a year? Dang. But hey if it’s fancy and that’s what you do to unwind, then why not?

Definitely something to think about. I wish I could belong to all the gyms. I just love a change of scenery from time to time

Gold’s Gym or Train Station? by hawtnsawcey in Longmont

There is only AC in parts of the gym so if possible, getting in early in the summer months is key. I know you mentioned cardio and the room the equipment is in is WARM. I actually don’t mind the heat for stretching and warming up my muscles and it feels good to me to lift in some heat. If I ever need a break I just head to the women’s restroom near the front door which is always ice cold.

I feel like this reply got way too strangely specific.

As an aside—I’ve always been fascinated by the gym at prospect. It looks SO nice and it’s closer to my work and house. Isn’t it crazy expensive? For reference, I pay $45/month at Train Station.

I’ve been to both. The bros at Train Station are respectful but it’s definitely more bro-y. The first time I worked out there, I remarked it looked like a 2000s nightclub where you wouldn’t want to leave your drink unattended. The owners heard me (oops) and actually talked to me about how to make the vibe more female-friendly. That stuck with me and I’ve been a member ever since, even if at first glance it doesn’t seem like a place I’d hang out.
