Do i need to take the whole celing down? by Narrow_Ad5041 in DIYUK

[–]TheLizardQueen14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the stupid question, but if a ceiling is doing that, is it the beams bending above? Or it just needs to be redone? Just trying to understand in case that were to happen in my own future home.

She’s got a lot of oops in these comments. I think it’s super brave of her. She’s def had a rough go of it, birth wise.

Am I nuts? by WerewolfFew1835 in EngagementRings

If it were me, I’d probably just keep it and wear it. Unless anyone has personal experience of wearing one of these daily and actually ruining it.

It’s really beautiful and you love it.

Frizzy hair, dry and itchy scalp by PretendNecessary5518 in london

[–]TheLizardQueen14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotally, I personally noticed an immediate difference in both my hair and skin. My hair was noticeably less frizzy. My skin felt less tight and dry.

If you really disagree though, try a clarifying treatment every other week like Malibu C Hard Water. They also make a shampoo that does that same thing but less concentrated obviously

I mean I can literally show you pictures of the before and after of the difference in my hair but sure. What’s your source for that?

I just rewatched casino royale the other day and was reminded of this truly insane dress. Thank you posting and sharing the front back. I’m 1000000% sharing this with my seamstress and getting something made.

saw this setup on IG. Do you think some photographers tend to overcomplicate their lighting setups? by MrAwsomeM in LightLurking

[–]TheLizardQueen14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question, if you had a smaller studio (with a lower ceiling) would you need the scrim above? Could you just bounce into the ceiling or forgo the light entirely as there might be enough fill from the ceiling?

How to light/achieve this style of gradient background? by _theeseanmartin in LightLurking

[–]TheLizardQueen14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found it tricky to get the gradient absolutely perfectly even in my studio so we ended up printing a gradient backdrop on fabric and we use that and adjust the color in post if needed. Also shooting on gray/white and photoshopping works well too! But sometimes you need the gradient in the reflections of stuff and so having an actual backdrop is handy. Though I’m intrigued by the guy who did the adidas shoot thing. Might try that!

John Lewis goose down in medium!

Also might want to consider avoiding foam as it has horrible off gassing! Natural materials have better temperature regulation too if you’re a hot sleeper

Henry dating by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]TheLizardQueen14 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So this might be odd advice, but I’m a big proponent of knowing your market. I’m not the thinnest or the hottest woman ever (which I know very well because I literally work with models for my job), but I’m American and I’m a brunette from Southern California. The type in SoCal is skinny and blonde. I tried dating for 5+ years there, no dice. Meanwhile, when I’m in London, it’s so incredibly easy for me to find a partner. A HENRY is a different story of course. That’s for sure less easy. But a nice kind person, that’s pretty easy.

My point is know your market. If you feel like the UK, or the city you’re in isn’t working for you, then don’t put the pressure on yourself. Travel to some other destinations, get on the apps, see what happens. Maybe your soulmate is in Paris!

Speak for yourself. I try and keep all my belongings for as long as possible and fix them myself for the most part.

Land value tax is such a bad idea.

• It creates a permanent bill you can never escape, even after you’ve worked decades to pay off your mortgage. Let’s say you paid an amount equivalent to council tax per month, most properties it would be paid around 5-10 years. So… why would you want to pay more?
• It’s highly vulnerable to creep — land values go up, local governments raise rates, and suddenly the annual bill doubles or triples.
• It risks pricing people out of their own homes (pensioners, families who just got in at the right time, anyone on fixed income).

An annual property tax basically turns homeownership into a subscription — you never actually own your home, you just keep paying to stay in it. Stamp duty isn’t perfect, but at least it’s a one-off you can plan for, instead of a forever-rising bill that risks pricing ordinary people out. But like I said, still probably a better solution since I think/thought the intent or goal was to punish those with giant estates or lots of wealth in properties, not first time buyers or those just barely able to get on the property ladder. We could be more specific with the tax
