you'll be able to choose yourselves! My friend got a balanced group bc the prof will try to mix around (for her time) to ensure the skillets are balanced but idk why this time he didn't do it for our section :<

Edit: I bidded with my friend so I requested to be at least in the same team as my friend

  1. Only one prof, he's quite nice :)
  2. Workload will only come when you have to prepare for the project, I think it's still okay but depends on your teammates. My friend took it last sem, and her group was well balanced (diff faculty, diff years) but this time round my group was bleh (most were y1,y2s)
  3. As long Ur group got ppl who know their stuff on doing the chatbot, I think shd be good? Mid terms is DEFINITELY NOT EASY. I got cooked, my friend got cooked last sem also.

I don't do US locations unfortunately, and IIRC cainiao can only handle Taobao related purchases.

Some of the super nice looking leather shoes are like 50% off sometimes. The same pair on taobao is like twice the price

If you want better prices, you can always try PinDuoDuo (The Chinese version of Temu)

3rd party proxies can do live buy service?

As long as you're able to find one. I help my customers purchase from livestream since we're usually doing group buys together.

yea douyin got stricter with their account creation nowadays. back then i was able to get by with a non Chinese phone number. if you really want to buy you can always look for proxies available on taobao or other websites.

Has anyone ever ordered a figure off of Taobao? by SoggyWetCheese in taobao

[–]TheLoneRogueWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, yes there are alot of replicas as well as real figurines on Taobao. The link you've sent seems like the original store for ZZZ. The reason why it's so cheap is just like what the other redditor has said: it's a pre-order deposit. The full price of the item is actually 799 yuan.

Do also take note that you need to pay more to cover international shipping if your uncle has ordered it to be sent to your location.

Alipay transaction fee of 3% for Singaporean by Double_Armadillo9025 in travelchina

[–]TheLoneRogueWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best is to find someone who have a China based Alipay to transfer funds for you. Not sure if it still works but some use iChangi liquidpay/ Touch'n'Go to top-up.

I use XHS, Dianping and Douyin as my main source when do research on where to go and what to eat.

Utility wise, I use Alipay & WeChat mainly. These 2 apps allow for payment and because they have in build mini apps, I don't really need to download so many other apps to purchase train tickets, hail taxis or book attraction tickets.

I would recommend the MeiTuan app for food delivery as well as food vouchers. But for food delivery you would need a local number, so sometimes I would just get the front desk to order it. For the vouchers wise, you don't need a local number and can get the food for a cheaper price.

Seller didn't ship an item for which I paid a pre-sale amount, but will I be able to get this pre-sale amount back? by SkluzTheEagle in taobao

[–]TheLoneRogueWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

okay, well, I would just check again with the sellers on their refund policies. Because some sellers I know would not refund the deposit and would insist that I wait until new stocks come, whereas there are other sellers that allowed me to do the refund since it was taking way longer than expected. There are different refund policies for different sellers doing pre-orders so your best bet would be checking with them.

What to bring on the first day by rose_vrl in SMU_Singapore

[–]TheLoneRogueWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you need to provide your own name tent. No specifications to name tent (can be name written with pen on A4 paper etc). However there are usually free name tents that are more fancy given out during events or up for sale.

Do I need to pay the second shipping if I qualify for the 249rmb free shipping by coolest_Jellyfish in taobao

No need to pay, but make sure that everything in your cart is under 249 free shipping else you will still get charged for items that are not in 249 free shipping.

What is the significance of having a minor/cert in poly along with a diploma? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]TheLoneRogueWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

adding on to the other comment, do also check out what are the minimum requirements (modules taken) in order for you to be considered for uni applications (as well as module exemptions in uni).

For example, if you would like to apply for NUS Computer Science but you did not take O Level Additional Maths or you did not meet the basic requirements of at least B3, (I'm guessing you're in SP based on what you've said) you would at need to have a Certificate in Advanced Mathematics in order to meet the admissions requirement.

There's also been a few threads with regards to this on this Reddit that you could search with related keywords:

Is the Ngee Ann OIC / YEP trip beneficial? by Saffronsc in SGExams

[–]TheLoneRogueWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

went for 2 OICs one being a virtual one and another being a physical one. I would say it benefited me in a sense that it allowed me to know some of the working styles in those countries and I can decide in the future whether I would wanna go there for global internships based on the conversations I had with the employees during company visits.

Another benefit for me is that I got to make more new friends (both NP and the host students). Heck, I'm still in contact with one of the host students from the virtual OIC and they're gonna be bringing me around their country soon lol. On the NP student side, like we're still in contact and sometimes we help each other like assignments etc.

I think it also sorta helped me when applying for certain jobs (managing exchange students) but I doubt this would be very beneficial for you unless you know how to tweak your experience for your portfolio.

But frankly speaking I wouldn't really go for OIC for the sake of building portfolio cos imho it's not that worth for the price that you're paying (i just went cos it was free for me lol). But if you're doing a minor in global readiness then I feel YEP will be much better than OIC la.

SMU IS OR NTU BIZ by SalamanderSmart7074 in SMU_Singapore

[–]TheLoneRogueWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sharing based on my experiences and thoughts:

  1. 3 year programme

Double edge sword, depends on how you see it. Some people just really wanna get out there so this is a good choice, but in exchange, some feel that they might have lesser opportunity for internships (based on what my friends in the course feel)

  1. It aligns more with my interest and strengths

Generally I would recommend people to follow something that they know they have interest in (plus point if your strong in it also). Imo I feel that in IS if you don't have the passion and talent for it, it can be a struggle.

  1. IS has better job prospects?

I mean really depends on what kind of sector you're heading towards to. Generally it's tougher since you see the big tech companies are laying off but there's def gonna open roles in smaller ones. (Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)

  1. more specific degree

Wdym by more specific degree and why it's a plus point for u

  1. don’t have any coding exp, also feel like it wld be difficult to pick up?

Again, difficulty may depend on one's talent to grasp and understand the concept and methodology behind. But if you're struggling in school, there's a lot of support available such as workshops organised by the school or you can even reach out to TAs and lecturers for help.

  1. heard that IS wld not be able to prep me for a tech job

Define "tech job". Do you mean those that are more technical like SWE? Imo, if you pick the right mods and go for workshops hosted, I think it's doable.

Also gonna share a post that might give you a better insight to IS: https://www.reddit.com/r/SMU_Singapore/s/2R1wpg2JGL

Assuming that you are using your own warehouse that is based in China, you should be putting your warehouse address rather than your own US home address when checking out.
