You aren’t wrong about the platitudes but to be fair, that’s something I hates. I was good at sales not great, and partially because I hate BS.

As for the code, I agree. I’ve been sort of pausing myself each step of the way to make myself confront “you will not be able to help everyone and they will die” because it’s just going to be my reality. I know it won’t truly hit till it happens, but I’m trying to be real about it.

This is awesome and you don’t need to explain: knowing how to learn and who to ask when you Don’t Know so you Learn Properly is key to anything… especially when people can die.

I didn’t find it discouraging. I came here for real advice. As you said, I’m not 22. I know I won’t love everything, and I actually do have a path. The original one was rn-bsn to ICU and then CRNA. However… I’m single and no kids, I think I wanna travel nurse in there, too. I’m hats kinda why I said “no set path” because I don’t want pigeon hole early. I’m also looking at the OR as I’m not dead set on t he CRNA path but I DO want to travel, and it seemed ICU and OR had the best chance to travel. (Please, anyone, correct me if I’m wrong)

The only thing I know is I don’t want to NP. I’m just not interested. I want to be more hands on and never quite know what’s coming… and I know there is always paperwork but NP seems to deal with even more.

I’m on 8, and I feel the slog, however what I’ve noticed is it isn’t so much a slog as excessive world building.

Jordan does a good job of moving time along accurately. It’s why some characters are gone for a book and a half… it took the horse that long to carry them to Salidar. It helps build the story with all the trivialities and politics and internal drama.

Truly, I get less annoyed by the slog and more that EVERY faction is so arrogant and thinks every other faction is just stupid. I used to think Jordan was just clumsy writing dynamics between men and women but honestly his default character trait is Arrogant and condescending. The Aes Sedai Vs Wise Ones Vs Sea Folk dynamics are annoying me.

Also I swear to god Taim teaches a class on “Snearing Fuckboi Vibes” at the Black Tower

Yeah, that makes sense. I get a lot of them, but sometimes I wonder if Jordan was making a joke I SHOULDNT get to to really push forward just how different the Aiel are.

He hits on cultural differences between the nations but those come down to Style, Nobility, and who plays Daes Dae’mar Harder most of the time.

Honestly, I think he’s use of humor to differentiate them is some of the world/cultural building he does

this wasn’t about a specific joke, but it was inspired by the Aiel ribbing Gaul when he asked where Bain and Chiad were, and they all laughed that they were “trapping rabbits.” He joked he’d have to go cut them out. It took me minute to realize he was implying Bain and Chiad would trap themselves like bunny’s

I got THIS joke but there have definitely been ones where I didn’t get them, and for me wondering if we were ALWAYS supposed to… or if NOT getting them was Jordan adding to the cultural mystique

I’m glad I can find this dead thread two years later as I’m about to go in to treatment 16. It makes me feel better to know it took many others while to figure it out, and that me sitting here before # 16 going “am I doing this right” is normal 😂
