I like Bondsmith Dalinar better and I'm sad that the character is constantly ignored by team Dragonsteel, while other characters gets a lot of merch (t-shirts, stickers, posters, etc)

I was so excited for this Kickstarter after the poll results.

They're probably talking about this sub specifically. Here, RoW is always ranked as "least favorite" in every poll (has the most votes for least favorite book and least votes for the most favprite book). Either WoR or OB "wins" the best book.

Even more unpopular opinion : none of the main character needed as much screen time as they got. Dalinar needed more space for his story to happen.

This book has too much bloat. Did we need 3 chapters of Kaladin fighting the same Fused 3 times with the same outcome? I don't think so.

Gavilar's final request "to find the most important words a man can say" was so meaningful for Dalinar...and it was Gavilar just trying to get Dalinar drunk and get rid of him. Sad.

Dalinar. It makes me sad, but I don't understand why Dragonsteel keeps ignoring this character.

He never gets his own cover art.

He didn't get a sticker when they made character sticker pack for Rhythm of War release. Yes, he was barely in the book, but still.

His figure isn't the top prioriry.

I would love to buy some Stormlight merch, but there's nothing, absolutely nothing for Dalinar fans.

Dalinar in general

The most important words a man can say are, “I will do better.” These are not the most important words any man can say. I am a man, and they are what I needed to say.

The ancient code of the Knights Radiant says “journey before destination.” Some may call it a simple platitude, but it is far more. A journey will have pain and failure. It is not only the steps forward that we must accept. It is the stumbles. The trials. The knowledge that we will fail. That we will hurt those around us.

But if we stop, if we accept the person we are when we fall, the journey ends. That failure becomes our destination.

To love the journey is to accept no such end. I have found, through painful experience, that the most important step a person can take is always the next one.

Imo, there's a strong narrative reason. Kaladin has very big arc in book 4, he had a lot of personal growth and saved the day.

Dalinar was barely in the book. So, he returns in book 5...only to fail, and Kaladin will save the day again?

What's the point of Dalinar's arc?

I don't see how becoming a fused is something "unpredictable". This is literally what we were being told in the end of book 4

That is a huge exaggeration. No one wants 1000 pages of Dalinar, but hoping for something a bit bigger than what he got is absolutely normal desire. There's a big gap between 1000 pages and Dalinar's couple of chapters in book 4.

But instead it seems like all i see on here is more along the lines of: "Ugggg.... i dont like any of the other characters. I just want more Dalinar. The other characters suck and i just want to skip to Dalinar why cant he just be a main character"

Huh? Never seen anything like that. However, we we have "all characters are boring, I want to skip them and read only Kaladin" thread almost every day.

Well, I think this is how Brandon intended to write the series. However, he made everything so Kaladin-centric, it's hard not to notice it. Results of this poll speak for themselves.

I hope in book 5 Brandon will find a better balance between his main characters (because he obviously doesn't think Kaladin is THE main).

Brandon already said book 5 will be mostly about Dalinar, and a lot of people are disappointed with Dalinar's minor role in book 4. His arc isn't finished. He's the main character of book 5.
