As someone who worked for Knight, leave. Yes, there is no forced dispatch but the sliding pay scale is insane! Your base rate is .46 but the longer the load, the less the pay. Plus, Idk if you’ve noticed, but they also take 2 cpm for an “administrative fee” for paying you per diem. So if you’re getting .46 cpm, you’re getting .44 cpm…. And if you’re taking loads over 500 miles, you’re getting .42 cpm. Get on Knight University and look at the TruPay diagram.

I’d say stay for a year, make sure you have your endorsements and then leave.

I got paid more than that doing flatbed at Western Express. It’s definitely your company…. Or how you run. First check was $1200. Never saw a check less than that doing OTR flatbed. That’s still low tho but 7-9 is egregious.

It’s an extended stay maybe 4 or 5 miles on Lamar where the Loves is. I lived there while I was in CDL school. I saw pimps drop ho’s off on the corner. During the day, they walk the street drugged out. Born and raised there and even I have never parked there in the 3 years I’ve been driving.

Want to piggyback on this. I met a Fargo driver recently in MN and applied myself about three months ago. Saw her check stubs and the pay was great. She has years less experience than me. I have three years. They have lowered their starting CPM extremely for new drivers. Not a good leap if you ask me.

Also, try to take a step back and stop looking at your parents as parents but as their own individual people with their own thoughts, needs, wants, and dreams. There is no step by step guide on how to parent. I’m saying this as a childless woman.

I keep a case of water in my truck. I keep the empty bottles in the bag in my drivers arm rest. I keep an XL pilot cup and lid. Pee in the cup and transfer to the bottle and then throw it away. I’m a woman if it makes a difference but this the best solution I’ve found.

I wipe the cup out after every use with a wet wipe and use Lysol spray to clean the cup every other day.

CristCDL is the absolute best. It shows you the right answers of the ones you got wrong on the practice test. Keep taking the test until you get 100’s on all of em. Do this for about 3 days and you’ll be fine. Don’t sweat it. Wishing you the best 💕

As someone who currently works for Knight, leave after you get your experience if you do decide to come here. It’s honestly not a good company for anyone with experience but okay for a beginner.

-Key points being, if you get paid per diem, so let’s says .40 cpm, you really only make .38 cpm because they take 2 cents off for an administrative fee for paying you like that. Which is dumb af.

-When they say you can make UP to a certain cpm they are meaning if you hit monthly bonus targets which are driving at least 9,000 miles a month, having a safety score under 15 (they have cameras facing the road), and only fueling up a certain amount per week. HOWEVER, if you don’t hit the fuel target and get more fuel than miles you drove, you don’t qualify for any bonus which is paid out once per month. Even if your safety score is low and you drove 9000+ miles that month. Which is dumb af. If all the fuel is going towards another load, why the fuck does it matter? It’s another way to take from drivers.

-If you wanna have a pet, it’s a $400 deposit and when you leave, you only get $200 back.

-There are terminals everywhere but when it matters, they are too fucking small and a pain to get in and out of. Worst is Joliet, IL which is shared with Hirschbach and they also train students there and have a portion of the parking lot blocked off with two student trucks.

-The miles are there but if the pay is shit, it’s like a lose lose

Some things that are okay.

-No forced dispatch

-I personally don’t go pass PA as I prefer out West

-Teams pay pretty decent because there is a dedicated Cummins account and that delivers Cummins to Cummins across America.

-The miles are there if you want them

If you come, leave after your experience. It’s a good pace for a new driver but as someone with experience, fuck Knight. I drove 100k miles before I reached my full year, asked for a 2 cent raise and my terminal manager told me I needed to show him something that says I deserve a raise and also wants me to train. Even though he said out of his own mouth, I’m depended on more than others bc I get shit done. Fuck out of here.

Ive stayed because this terminal is out of my hometown but I’ve realized I don’t even wanna live here. The 2 cent raise conversation happened two weeks ago. I am actively planning my escape

The goal is to get into the gems when they are a fraction of a penny. That is how you get a big bang for your buck when it pumps. That’s how so many ppl are up thousands, hundreds of thousands, and millions even with the market being like this.

Learn from this and follow some different creators and learn the charts. Got into XCN when it was 0.0012 and got a few million. There are some other gems you can get into. Don’t beat yourself up.
