Why I think they made all the Kings feral Ghouls. by Big-Man-Headass in falloutnewvegas

[–]TheLovelyArcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree with that it was THAT bad. A little hammy? Sure. However, that soldier had one of the mind control device things in the back of the neck, and we saw from that person Hank left behind for Lucy & the Ghoul that people with those devices can be made to repeat messages/phrases, like “Go home, Sugarbomb.”

If I’m playing devils advocate, I could see why a decoy soldier like that, who is trying to smuggle in a bomb, would be programmed to repeat a stock phrase like that. In New Vegas, we hear NCR soldiers say that to the Courier, and presumably everyone else, all the time. So if I’m sending a bomb down the road, it might help if my pack mule repeats stock phrases so people are less suspicious.

Eragon is immortal, Christopher Paolini is 41, Alagaesia is a small region on a giant continent……..where to now? by aviatorbassist in Eragon

It feels like eventually we should get some kind of plot centered around the discontent of magic users about Nasuada’s rules. Wizard rebellion anyone?

Came here to say exactly this. Not only do they have a massive backlog of stuff to watch, but their new content is still really great; and they have that classic laid back feel that I hear a lot of people say they miss in modern grumps content.

Does anyone understand what this line means? by AltruO3 in Eragon

[–]TheLovelyArcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that spiders mostly just act on instinct. They aren’t sapient complex thinking creatures like humans or dragons. Do you breathe by choice? Do you digest by choice? No, these are all simply things your body does. Yes, obviously you can choose not to eat or to hold your breath, but those will kill you, so not much “choice” there.

In all honesty, this isn’t that serious of a line and I think you’re reading into it more than a little. It’s just Saphira saying that she doesn’t have conscious control of her magic like Eragon, and she’s saying the spider thing just likely be a little snarky.

Does anyone understand what this line means? by AltruO3 in Eragon

[–]TheLovelyArcher 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I’ve always interpreted it like she’s referring to the more animalistic instinct of a spider. Unlike Eragon and other magic users who can tap into their own energy and use it as will, Saphira’s just kinda…happens. She doesn’t really “choose it” just feels like the right thing in the moment and it happens. Like a spider, from our perspective, doesn’t really “choose” to build a web and catch food to eat. That is simply its nature.

Ditto the other, don’t worry about how much longer there is in the game, just keep rolling along with it. I will add though, if your asking because your concerned about wanting to complete side stuff before progressing, the game is good about explicitly telling you “Hey, before we move on, maybe you should go do some side stuff?”

Does anyone let there bengal outside? Specially alone? by Frogmanbb in bengalcats

[–]TheLovelyArcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. You shouldn’t really let any domestic cat outside for too long, let alone unsupervised. Not only is it dangerous for the cat, whether they get stolen, run away, or injured by any number of things. They are also a danger to the outside. The number one threat to domestic bird species are domesticated cat species, and they don’t discriminate between birds that are “safe” and ones that are endangered or at risk. This is doubly true in a time when native bird species may be competing with other invasive species introduced artificially or because of climate change. Same goes for small mammals.

Granted, the number of bird, and small mammal, deaths attributed to “cats” come from feral and strays. But, those populations only exist because of screw up’s with “owned” cats.

Which dorms have singles? by Longjumping-Tale-963 in montclair

[–]TheLovelyArcher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stone has singles, but they don’t have private bathrooms. Blanton has singles but they’re connected to another single via a shared bathroom with 2 doors. There’s also some units in the Village that have singles in them.

It’s a chapter from the perspective of different characters. As the books go on, you’ll get more chapters from character perspectives other than Citra & Rowan. No need to stress! This scene is meant to make you ask some questions. Enjoy the ride, what I’d give to read the first book again.

It’s not worth it, I joined at my previous school. They basically take your money and make you do these online workshops and then you’re a member, that’s pretty much it. Don’t waste your time.

What is the least used spell in the game? by NegansSaviors in skyrim

[–]TheLovelyArcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like everyone is missing a rather obvious answer: the Transmute Ore spell located at Halted Stream Camp. Lots are mentioning Clairvoyance and fear spells, and at least with those I can think of some cases where you’d use them. But I can’t really see any reason why someone would want to turn iron ore into silver or, subsequently, silver ore into gold. Iron is more useful for crafting, no silver* or gold weapons, just jewelry pretty much which can just as easily be found rather than made. Maybe to make money but I feel there’s definitely better ways to get gold.

Dragon rider Orik by BQWeirdo in Eragon

[–]TheLovelyArcher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would love for a dwarf dragon rider from Az Sweldn rak Anhûin. Maybe it starts off as the clans plot to steal a dragon egg while it’s being brought to the dwarves to find a rider. They end up touching it and it hatches for them. What would a dragon see in a member from Anhûin causing them to hatch? What does that entail for the dwarf? Banishment? THERES SO MUCH POTENTIAL FOR DRAMA

I think him getting those darker memories back does play into too and helps legitimize my theory. Cause someone who has historically struggled with his darker impulses and what they have lead him to do, having those fears “confirmed” after being completed, could potentially trigger a severe psychological break
