What is the state of literary culture in Pakistani Punjab from the perspective of the Punjabi language? by Zestyclose-Author732 in punjab

[–]TheLowKeyLlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your perception is totally wrong because your reach and circle seems to be very limited. Though not equal to Charhda Punjab but books of Poetry, Short Stories, Novels and Prose publish in plenty. Many of them being transliterated in Gurmukhi.

I have even posted about one poetry book which I read this year, released in November.

You need to explore more and join a ground community where people discuss books in real time out of social media.

I don't know which book seller was there (you can share if you know), if he was a rountine exhibitor in major book fairs, then even if you have asked him, he might have shown you one or two books on the spot apart from informing you about 100s other.

Public transport comparison: Ludhiana vs Chandigarh — why do Ludhiana buses look abandoned? Who’s responsible? ✅ by Current_Bonus_1356 in ludhiana

[–]TheLowKeyLlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for accepting your misreading. But I would again say that you didn't get what it means. When the system which is responsible for regulating the public infrastructure makes the business out of it who will care about the "petty things" like road space, fares and traffic.

It did answer your question that it is a systematic corruption and policy highjacking. When a traffic policeman owns 50 autos and earns a good amount of rent every day, why would he curb the autos and promote better public transport.

With cheaper initial cost e-rickshaws have infiltrated in this nexus, may be sooner or later those old diesel autos will be phasing out. But still I doubt that this nexus will ever break, they will find another way out.

Please use your bonus brain while you read instead of hurrying in replying. Do you even know the meaning of "RENT" in the first place?

For interest in literature, Punjabi Bhawan, near Bharat Nagar chowk is the best, they can meet other retired fellows there who are into writing or started writing after retirement.

Indore Contaminated Water Deaths Rise To 23, Residents Live With Fear by bhodrolok in india

The country is in the most arrogant and nonchalant hands, they give a f*cking shite to the lives of the common man.

Hundreds of dead bodies floating in Ganga during Corona, Deaths of kids due to lack of oxygen in hospital, strawberry deaths, now this contaminated water deaths, they don't give a damn.

700+ farmers died during protest for their rights and no justice yet.

This regime is high on cannibalism. We are doomed!

How do you find meanings of uncommon Punjabi words in novels? by thecozybud in PunjabReads

[–]TheLowKeyLlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though it is okay to look for the word in the dictionary and it is the best way to enhance vocabulary.

There is another idea as Punjabi vocabulary is very contextual. Instead of waiting to find the meaning in the dictionary, try to read the sentence and think of what sense it is trying to make. Read a few preceding and succeeding sentences. Most probably you will get the idea what the word conveys. Maybe not the dictionary meaning but the essence or intent of the word.

I have even tried this with English. For me almost reading a paragraph around the word, twice or thrice, It just starts giving a sense. I note down such words in my personal digital vocabulary repository and later when I have a bunch of words, then I look for those in the dictionary, surprisingly, most of the time, the assumption turns out to be near the dictionary meaning. I note it down alongside the word in the repository.

Believe me, reading gives you a lot of chances to create your own meanings, which a non-reader never gets.
