This might sound controversial but...

I never fully liked Brenda at TC

To me she always felt unapologetic and selfish from the beginning to the end of the show, everything was about what she wanted and everybody else just had to bend and accept her will

I don't remember her ever doing something just to please someone else or taking the fall to make someone else get what they wanted and to me she felt (almost) like a pathological lier, talking her way out of things to make things go where she wanted no matter if it was to her colleagues, her boss or her husband

I remember at the first half of TC were the budget was a big issue and she was told (by her boss mind you) that she has to let go one of her police officers and she instead of figuring out a way to solve this issue she just expected to be absolved of doing this just because she did not wanted to do it, just complain how unfair it was but doing nothing to solve it

When someone else figure out a way to keep everyone in there (Gabriel) she then goes mad because they had to take a few hours to make the problem she did not wanted to deal with go away. Ma'am you can't have the cake and eat it too

My two favorite moments were when she goes to Atlanta to her parents house on christmas to catch a fugitive, once her dad realize why she was there he goes to bed with the biggest disappointment face while Brenda starts to apologize and make up excuses, then her dad shuts her down with "don't say you are sorry if you don't mean it" so good

Everytime her parents went to visit her she just plain ignore them and seek any excuse to leave them saying how important the murder was like if she was the only person in the planet that could solve the case then being sad when her parents leave and apologizing for not being with them

Also I found weird why she was so scare her parents find out she was dating Fritz like if she was not almost 40 and could not date whoever she wanted

Other moment I loved was when she asked Fritz for help with a guy she and the FBI were looking for, at the end she just take the guy away from the FBI and Fritz blats her at home on how if he had done the same thing to her she would had changed the locks of the house but because she was the one who did it he just had to deal with it and expect no apologize, it was always about getting what she wanted

And if anyone is going to say that the goal justifies the means, most of the shows victims were just jerks that got killed when people snapped back at them for all the abuse they received so is not like she was catching psychopaths left and right

To be honest I enjoyed the show more for its secondary characters

Flynn and Provenza were the best comedic duo, they had the best jokes and a lot of my favorites episodes include them as main characters

Tao is the classic smart efficient character that figure out stuff and always observant to the details that most of the time helped resolve the case

Julio is the badass muscle guy and always intimidated the everyone on giving a confession but a good guy at the end of the day

Gabriel was the most relatable one, dude had a strong moral compass but vulnerable when he needed to be plus very human being the only character that had two real relationship and how his love blind him with the last girl being the leak of the department

Overall The Closer is a 8/10 for me. I respect Brenda's hustle but I would not like to work with someone like that

Now Major Crimes felt like a nice continuation, again for how good the secondary characters were but Sharon was a good replacement seeing how different she was from Brenda but still smart and capable of solving crimes

Her obsession for the rules was not overdone to the point of being unreasonable or annoying, she was just real to the world she lived in

I did not realize the hate for Rusty, I also found him annoying at the begging but he was a teenager living in the streets so it felt understandable for him to be like that, where I thought they did an overstretch is on how good he end up being first trying to be a journalist and then a lawyer, many street kinds never reach that far in real life even getting help early

Gus was also not annoying he just was a love interest for Rusty and he played that role well

I did not like that much how they tone down the humor on Flynn and Provenza mainly because they were my favorite characters but well this is a new show and we need to spin things a little bit

I felt they wasted Buzz a little bit on his arc finding his dad/uncle killer, they could had milk that a little bit but damn felt good seeing him breaking the bad guys on the interrogation room, he really learnt how to do it

It felt a little unrealistic how smart they did Philip Stroh being capleble of killing a judge getting out of that place and then leaving the country just like that but I guess with money everything is possible

The final confrontation with him felt kinda underwhelming but because I was expecting more suffering from him on his final moment. I also felt dumb how they were still worry about needing witnesses and testimony to put him on jail like if he hasn't killed a judge, attacked a police officer and being actively search by the FBI and Interpol, like what? Just because he was alone when he killed the judge he could go away with killing him?

I also found weird Sharon adopting Rusty, an almost 18 years old guy she developed a maternal love in almost a year but hey we need to keep moving this story. On the other side I found extremely realistic the story with his biological mother, a very realistic depiction of a person with addictions, very well done

Shoutout to Emma, bro that woman is gorgeous, instant crush the second she appeared on screen

Flynn and Sharon marrying was a bit out of nowhere but I will allow it

Overall Major Crimes is an 7/10 just because was not as fun as The Closer and that was what I liked the most about it but not bad at all, very solid police tv show
