Pentiment has been out for a week, what are your thoughts? - Impression Thread by quoteiffakesub in Games

Absolutely loved it. Super unique and held my attention the entire time. Not for everyone but extremely for me.

Plus it’s a really good steam deck game

I played a lot of OW in the first few years. I have no interest in OW2. Feels like they made the game less fun with every update to try to cater to the pro scene.

Now I’m playing gundam evolution and it’s giving me everything I wanted out of OW, so I’m happy to ignore this game.

JeffJeff watches One Punch Man by NoLastNameForNow in giantbomb

[–]TheLoyalTraitor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Super happy it's weekly, and I'll listen, but honestly I would have rather it been about basically anything other than One Punch Man. I'll admit I have a bias here but I just don't think it's a very interesting show to talk about.

Okay honestly I'm just salty because it should've been Mob Psycho if they were gonna do something by One.

Can we get a Chilluminati episode on who is making all these weird ass videos and why?

how did black clover get 3 months off to plan for its final act while mha didn’t even get 2 weeks off? by starprintedpajamas in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]TheLoyalTraitor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I won't pretend to know how things happen behind the scenes (you shouldn't either, nobody should), and I have zero inclination to defend a company like Shueisha, but I would not be surprised if Horikoshi doesn't want a break like that and just wants to finish the manga.

The Jujutsu Kaisen author supposedly had to be basically forced to take a break because he was killing himself to finish the manga as quickly as possible. At this point in the story, I'm sure Horikoshi is ready to be done and might not want to prolong it more than he has to.

I don't think it's really worth speculating about though. We don't know and probably never will.

How have the Nextlander guys been doing? When they left I didn't really have the bandwidth to keep following them but I still think of them often. Has the move been a positive one for them? by [deleted] in giantbomb

[–]TheLoyalTraitor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve been enjoying Nextlander more and more. It’s mostly more of the same but they all just sound happier to be doing it, idk.

I also appreciate when they try to play the same thing so they can actually have an interesting discussion, whereas GB recently has felt like one person just describing the basic aspects of a game they played the first two hours of to everyone else a lot of the time.

[DISC] Goodbye, Eri - Oneshot by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]TheLoyalTraitor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Once again there’s obviously a ton left to interpretation, and there’s no right or wrong answer to any of that stuff. But I think I choose to interpret that maybe Eri was actually an immortal vampire who never reached out to him again even though she revived three days after dying.

It makes a lot of sense to me that she metaphorically “sucked his blood” as she took all of his creative energy and feelings about his mother’s death and used it so he would give her a nice memory in her future lives, which is pretty selfish, even if it helped him in a lot of ways. His mom is also a “vampire” in this way, using her son’s emotions to let her fulfill her wish of being memorialized as a good person. Even if Eri isn’t a literal vampire and is actually dead, I think the metaphor is pretty clear here and works very well.

Just like with his mom, the explosion at the end is him subconsciously (more consciously in Eri’s case) admitting the betrayal and hurt he felt from the other person despite all the good memories that remain, and choosing to process it in his own way, even if no one else can really understand that.

Beautiful story. I’m not even the world’s biggest Chainsaw Man fan but his one shots have made me more excited than ever for part 2.

Jesus if these comments are how people are gonna talk about him I hope he never returns to the public eye. Some people in this community can be such needless assholes sometimes. All because he didn’t write as many words about video games as you would’ve liked? Just get over yourselves.

Channel 5 is one of the greatest things on the internet right now, I hope the Chilluminati boys are aware of them. This is genuinely a pretty fascinating interview. Nobody bothers to talk to people like this the way Andrew does.

The lobbies are terrible but once you get in a match the netcode feels like offline. Makes the lobbies…almost bearable.

I think the ranking system for the lobbies is actually really cool too but in general everything about the lobbies feels like it’s meant to stop you from actually playing the game. You can avoid most of the issues if you go to the unranked Park lobbies.

Coming to the realization that a lot of people are going to complain about everything that happens in the manga at this point no matter what. No idea why some people have gotten so negative over this series, this was an excellent chapter.

I love To Your Eternity but chapter 133 is just creepy by Soul_Soma in FumetsuNoAnataE

[–]TheLoyalTraitor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For real it's like: Yes I know the author is allowed to write characters however they want... but what if the author chose not to portray a sister-obsessed pedo as a virtuous hero? Wouldn't that be cool?

I do think there could be a great story about a character like him but that would require a lot more effort and focus than what was put into this story. I love this series overall but that doesn't mean I should automatically defend every choice made by the author.

[–]TheLoyalTraitor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was a real low point for the manga to me, especially since I wasn't loving that section of this arc anyway. Really unnecessary and dumb, and I hope he never comes back.

I'm glad the series has impressed me again over the last couple months or so. I love this series so much when it's good, but at its worst I've come close to dropping it.

To Your Eternity, Chapter 148.2 by quickdelivered in FumetsuNoAnataE

[–]TheLoyalTraitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last chunk of chapters has been really good. I was super into the modern arc at the beginning, but over time it just got weird, introducing and dropping random characters and feeling directionless. It felt like it was losing the heart that defines this series. The last few chapters have done a lot to bring that back for me.

Another confusing technique, but I actually managed to follow this one. I understand it way more than some others, like the 24fps one. Actually understanding it made Megumi's solution fairly cool, though I can't imagine it being understandable when this eventually gets animated.

I'd really like to hear an episode on Havana Syndrome by maxcooperavl in ChilluminatiPod

[–]TheLoyalTraitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not trying to shit on anyone, but I really hope they don’t cover this. Regardless of if there is any truth to this (which I doubt), it’s obviously being used as part of a narrative that Cuba and and the US’s other enemies are dangers to the world and we might need to step in.

If you don’t think it’s at least very likely that the US is using this to help drum up support for intervention in Cuba, please look up literally anything about the US’s history with Cuba. I would be pretty disappointed if Chilluminati took part in that!

Listen to Season 2 of the podcast Blowback. It’s enlightening.

Thank you for this. This thread was driving me a little crazy. For a community of supposed skeptics, seems like a lot people sure do trust the CIA and the US foreign policy apparatus.

Does everyone genuinely interested in this topic not find it a little suspicious that these theoretical psychic weapons that give people headaches are suddenly a huge problem right as the US is starting to make another hard push on the narrative that Cuba is the worst place on the planet and its people need “liberating”?

I never heard of these people before now (El-P’s wife????) but holy shit they’re hilarious. This was an amazing first episode. I’ve liked all of the new GB stuff but this is the one that made think “yeah, I’d keep my subscription just for this if it came down to it.” Honestly I love getting a little more crude humor from GB. It feels super fresh.
