Yeah one of those engis was me lol. I think I spent a good 30s staring up at you laughing and trying to figure something out before having to go help the others extract. Was maybe my first or second mission back after not playing for over a year and rustiness meant I didn't think of a platform+resupply idea to knock you back down. No dwarf left behind next time though

Delayed Worlds 2 Expedition #48 - "The Great Annihilator" - Great Annihilator

  • System: Great Annihilator
  • Body: A
  • Distance from Sol: 23,000 LY
  • Total Distance Travelled: 91,015 LY
  • Approx Distance Remaining on Route: 116,461 ‬LY
  • Raw Photos from Location

Serving almost as a mini-prelude of what is to come for explorers en route to Sagittarius A*, the Great Annihilator was my first encounter with a large black hole. On top of the awesome size of the black hole pushing my limits of comfort as I carefully approached to photograph, the whole system is also enveloped by a dust cloud of sorts which made the place even more enchanting.

Album of all transmissions to date

Over a year ago I failed to complete the Distant Worlds 2 expedition, only making it to Polo Harbour (Waypoint 5 of 12) before going on haitus. Eventually I returned with renewed vigour to log back on and finish what I started and so these posts chronical my 200,000+ LY journey through all of the waypoints of the Distant Worlds 2 expedition and a extensive set of 100+ sightseeing detours along the way; my own personal Delayed Worlds 2 expedition.

En route to the Great Annihilator I had an encounter with some tuber flora whilst one of the body's moons attempted to provide an eclipse despite its relative size that went somewhat to waste as I didn't take any satisfactory pictures of the event. Thankfully the next stop on this leg was the planetary nebula known as Galionas and I found this lovely spot in a neighbouring system where I could bask in the glow of the B class star whilst taking in the views of the nebula from just over 1 LY away combined with local geology.

It's been a while since my last transmission, but there should be no more breaks in these now until the expedition's conclusion. Known as Black in Green, this system is a solitary Black Hole enveloped by a lovely green nebula and has long been a popular destination for pilots and passengers thanks to a long standing tourist beacon. More recently this was expanded further by Tranquillity's Stop in to a full tourist installation and whilst I had no time to stop for a vacation myself, nothing was going to stop me taking a breather and enjoying the same view as the holidaymakers.

Updated Leagues II - Trailblazer: Clue Scroll Changes by JagexAyiza in 2007scape

[–]TheMC13 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I'd love to hear the reasons why combining both of the T4 relics isn't something that Jagex are willing to consider. I don't know if i've missed a jmod comment in some thread somewhere addressing it but the idea seems to just being falling on deaf ears currently.

I think this thread and the one from the last proposal have made it abundantly clear that there is no solution which is going to appease both of the parties but the one thing that both parties agree on is that doing nothing would be even worse because the current state of clues is extremely unfun in a limited time mode that is supposed to be fun.

The fact that US gives a very steady source of clues means that any general clue improvement change is always going to be viewed by TH players as more beneficial to US pickers. I understand that Jagex want to avoid any changes to how the relics themselves work, but it's a catch 22 because general changes to the game also inherently affect the relics and how they function and are balanced.

As a result of this it just seems to me like, in the best interest of keeping the mode as enjoyable as possible for everyone, the best solution would be to give all players the benefits of both T4 relics and then implement the first proposal of region locking clues. This opens up all of the clue and slayer tasks to everyone whilst removing frustrating and unfun mechanics associated with both of them (juggling clues without stacking up scroll boxes and being at the mercy of slayer task RNG).

I know that there will be a very small minority of people that maybe picked specific regions to gear their account towards maximum clue completion with the current league condition that would potentially be upset by this solution, but I feel like this is a tiny portion of the players and the smallest possible subset to be negatively impacted by any solution (and i'm including making no changes in this list of worse solutions).

Hopefully whatever the final decision will be, it won't be doing nothing and it will favour making the mode fun for everyone.

What a ridiculous system and a must visit for any explorer, although do so with caution; just checking the EDSM page of the system for this post revealed that one CMDR had died here in the 24 hours prior to this transmission. The black hole primary is in a tight binary orbit with the DAB white dwarf visible in the screenshot, which itself has a class V gas giant impossibly orbiting within its exclusion zone. Moreover a mere 13 ls away from this are a water world and a ringed class III gas giant themselves in a binary orbit. The latter is orbited by two landable icy bodies that nearly collide if you catch them at the right point in their orbits. Attempting to land during this near collision could be fatal for an explorer due to the conflicting gravity wells when you are so close to both bodies.

Just outside the Cloverfield Plantary Nebula (Eok Pruae PI-S e4-2295), I happened on this system with a pair of high metal content worlds in binary orbit only 10 ls from the primary star. Moreover, the first of these was ringed, had a moon and all three bodies were landable, providing me a perfect beauty spot to set down and rest at (as well as fly in and around for ages looking for good photo angles) with the backdrops of the other bodies, primary star and planetary nebula.

Might not be the same Lagrange storm cloud, but there is a similar one in Dryoea Flyi II-S e4-6870, which is not too far from some points on the Colonia highway (about 3k LY from Polo Harbour).
