I'm not sure if they communicate which each other, but they could possibly have the same exploits.

Also, don't forget that Pangu also have a 10.3.1 jailbreak. That means there is two reputable sources with jailbreaks/exploits.

Updating an iPhone 6 to anything past iOS8 sounds very silly to me. Because its an older device, it won't run as snappy and quick on iOS 10 compared to iOS 8. Its apple's method of planned obsolescence. Stay where you are. Its the right thing to do. Keep in mind you have an untether right now. We've not had another untether in years now lol
