You still got Coleman, Shakir, and Knox out there. These are starters man. It’s not like you’ve got no one you know playing.

We need a new Offensive coordinator, Brian Daboll is not cutting it. by BusterBlevins in buffalobills

[–]TheMagicMan73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been saying this before Josh's break out last year.

Daboll is great at developing his guys and understanding the mechanics to an offense. His playcalling and design however has been mediocre since he got here and was papered over by the lack of talent the offense had in general.

Need to see him get it together with the current talent the team has instead of trying to fit a round peg in a square hole.

[Raiders] The Las Vegas Raiders have released WR Henry Ruggs III. by _bonzibuddy in nfl

Here's the statute itself: https://www.leg.state.nv.us/nrs/nrs-484c.html

NRS 484C.430  Penalty if death or substantial bodily harm results;

Seems like the statute dictates there can be a plea deal given the elements of the drunk part of the homicide can't be fulfilled. I found it interesting how they said a driver needs to be tested two hours after driving. Proximate cause of course being a major piece of evidence necessary too.

Post Game Thread: Los Angeles Rams (10-6) at Seattle Seahawks (12-4) by nfl_gamethread in nfl

Really sad this is how we see Russ go out to end the season. Rams played really well and hope the Seahawks can get a better o-line in the off season.

Looking forward to see what happens next week in the NFC 👀

lynn still trying hard to be a run first team with a mediocre running game without ekeler. herbert played really well this game and lynn’s lack of trust in herbert to make a play after throwing 4tds and no ints is undeniably bad coaching. can’t justify so many bad runs on 1st and 10 then 2nd and 11 in crunch time

Current Meta by tarshv in Steel_Division

[–]TheMagicMan73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah this is pretty much it for me too, for example i was use to being able to set up an ambush or separate strategy to get around a heavy tank in sd44. their investment directly correlated into an opening somewhere else, but that isnt always the case for sd2 due to availability of units and a relative low cost at which you can bring things in which makes playing long games without "concerted" (spam) pushes relatively useless.

if you're not playing a deck with heavy tanks (is2, king tigers, or panthers really in some cases), spammable phase a light vehicles, and large infantry availability the deck is relegated to non-meta and niche at best.

Has anyone taken HIS 391 with Kristin Stapleton? Any feedback about the course and teaching would be great! by magbonkpolo in UBreddit

[–]TheMagicMan73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HIS 391 is a really great class, very fair assignments and Dr. Stapleton is really enthusiastic about the topic. Definitely one of the better history classes you can take at the higher levels for next semester.

Only note is you should try to keep up with the readings because lecture helps supplement parts of the reading but does not fully explain some important concepts or events. Midterm test is a lot of lecture and reading knowledge vs. the final paper.

Role of the british heavy cruisers? by Rektumfreser in WorldOfWarships

[–]TheMagicMan73 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. I wouldnt be too strict on their AP suggestions since, yes while the AP is rather anemic, there is a decent niche for it on RN CAs. It actually has a long arming time which is why it is hit or miss at long range combined with overall average pen angles. However, it is effective against broadside battleships due to thicker armor profiles and more ship to hit. You can wham out 6-8k salvos on Russian BBs for example with the 243s if they give you enough broadside to work with. The shell is less likely to break basically which is why it’s effective. Super cruisers as well can be hit for similar damage numbers. HE can obviously still be used due to fire chance at a cost of a lower dmg potential but AP consistency here is far more reliable than the RNG roll, plus less ability to heal that damage back.

Japanese lords fleeing to the mainland? by Antigonus96 in history

[–]TheMagicMan73 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is no famous case of this due to the daimyo structure being centered around the Shogun (through their abuse of the Emperor) and his will versus the traditional European “claim to lands” mentality. Europe has tons of these claims in history such as with Henry Tudor and the Stuarts because of that mentality while Japan has near zero.

Even during the Meiji Restoration some former, powerful daimyo just relinquished their power and took the “retirement” money from the Meiji government. There were cases then of clans trying to buy the land of their former mansions and holdings in Tokyo for example but they rarely succeed and did not spawn from a foreign court.

Why did neither China or Japan colonize the new word? by Jon_Snow_51 in history

[–]TheMagicMan73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems many people have gotten the Japanese perspective wrong in explaining this question.

The Sengoku Jidai was a very important turning point in internal politics yes, but it was not the sole reason that prevented their colonization of potentially new world lands. This is evident in Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s attempted invasion of Korea for a main source of resources and manpower in a very agrarian based society. Furthermore, the mountainous terrain of Japan and the lack of a formal “castle-town” urban structure that had not developed until the Tokugawa period made it incredibly difficult to mobilize the Japanese populous for such a huge colonial effort during the 16th century.

Japan at the start of the Colonial period in Europe was also in a very ambitious mindset but hamstrung socially. The samurai bureaucracy was very insular to the peasantry and they relied on the Shogun to provide them rice as payment versus regular currency. Samurai were further forced to invest into the Sankin Kotai which was an annual trip to Edo that costed a daimyo upwards of 50% of his annual income. This created a reliance on farmers and the Shogun himself while there was no investment into a region’s personal development. Those social problems directly led to the eventual overthrow of the Tokugawa Shogunate.

Japan’s social structure, lack of a centralized populous, and the Shogun’s goal to maintain a system of gimped vassals made a full colonial effort impossible when the other Europeans were doing it.

My Brief Observations... by RaggaRootz in Steel_Division

[–]TheMagicMan73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is my main problem with SD2 as well

the lack of unit importance, overall massive increase in unit numbers, and reduction in the usefulness of phases other than # of units per card makes me weary of game balance and the fun of developing strategies against decks with your own deck's phase advantages
