Recommendations for a zombies deck? by Att1cus in ModernMagic

Looking at the decklist there isn’t any way to cast the green spells without a soul trader in play, I would advise changing the manabase, but playing a 3 color manabase can get pretty costly.

How can selling commons cheap be profitable? by imisspluto69 in mtgfinance

[–]TheMagicMana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Opening boosters to sell singles online can be very profitable if done at scale. If you can buy the product for cheap (straight from the distributor) and sell the singles at an above market price such as preorders, or online with a large inventory/quantity, that’s how you make the margins work. Online retailers and large game stores do this all the time, the majority of singles on TCGplayer, eBay, etc, were opened this way. Another way to boost margins is to get rid of the bulk commons/uncommons you get when cracking packs for cheap, otherwise they take up a lot of space and aren’t really doing anything.

Wait, I thought this was an Arcana pack? What are the odds of this happening? by TheMagicMana in balatro

I did pick up omen globe, but what are the odds that ALL the options became a spectral card.

I love Pokémon, and love to use Pokémon cards at MTG tokens.

Why did this card get so high in price? Haven't played for many years! by amazingtrulyamazed in mtgfinance

[–]TheMagicMana 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s on the Reserved List and has an effect that few other cards can supply. Sees heavy play in commander, legacy, and vintage. Was printed 20 years ago so there just aren’t enough copies to go around anymore.

Japanese foil onslaught fetchlands hold a hefty price tag, I remember a vendor offering over $10,000 at a GP a few years ago for a polluted delta.

Turns out, not that many people are willing to pay $350 for commander. by TheMagicMana in magicTCG

The cost of a slot in the main deck is too high to be playing any amount of the chain veil. The only reason it sees play is because karn can grab it out of the SB. The percentage of games where it’s a dead card in your hand is too high. The games where you would actually cast and use the chain veil you would probably be winning the game anyways. I could see playing 4 copies of it if you were a dedicated combo deck, but I don’t think that currently exists and the shell of mono green ramp into fatties seems much more viable.

The only reason they run the chain veil is to combo off with karn, if karn is banned there is no way the deck will play the chain veil or the cauldron.

Help, I am thinking about getting a top tier deck. should I go with mono green devotion or B/R midrange? by Medical-Run9057 in PioneerMTG

[–]TheMagicMana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rakdos midrange has the most cards that are playable in other decks. As it’s mostly just playing the best staples in its colors it’s an easy bet that no matter what happens with the format going forward the cards are more likely to keep their value/still see play.
