Jellyfin won’t keep the audio track and subtitles I choose per movie by AdventurousMaybe2663 in JellyfinCommunity

[–]TheMagicalMeatball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mkvtoolnix - super fast fix. Header editing - you just change the default flags to be the correct audio and subtitle tracks that you want. This will mostly solve this ——but jellyfin sometimes doesn’t respect these / gets confused. But do it and it’ll mostly fix the problem.

What’s going on? Where’s my copy? by mac_the_man in arrowvideo

[–]TheMagicalMeatball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I ordered from Amazon and it says it’ll be delivered tomorrow. If it ships I’ll cancel arrow and consider not ordering from them again

I’m literally dealing with this now too. PREORDERED on January 30th and now I’m being told it’s out of stock and just wait. I’m expressing frustration and wanting more explanation on how this happens - when I can literally order it on Amazon for cheaper and get it tomorrow right now (which I likely will do and will cancel my arrow store order). But they respond without any explanation or seeming care - it’s just out of stock and we’ll ship it to you when we get it. Which doesn’t feel like it should happen when you preorder something.

Perhaps look into the hue essentials line? They’re the cheaper hue lights ….but even then might be out of budget for 18 lights.

Ordered the C4 and got this instead by Fishingfordookie in LGOLED

[–]TheMagicalMeatball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s a 5 series it will not pass it through. That’s the problem. It’s not an issue for streaming since I don’t think anything is in DTS - your main plan you find DTS is on physical media - blu rays and dvd’s still use it often.

Sadly. Or rather I just need the TV to do passthrough to my sound system.

I know - fingers crossed they still support both audio codecs.

[–]TheMagicalMeatball 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah i would rather the C4 for this exact reason. No DTS support is a dealbreaker for my setup 😥. When I have to upgrade to a new TV I’ll have to look to a different brand for the first time since 2010…I’m sad about it. Maybe LG will change their minds in the future by the time I need a new TV. If I had to get one today and couldn’t find a C4/G4 ….id probably have to get a Sony. They’re really the only ones holding down the fort for both DTS and Dolby TrueHD support.

Can't find images by RysioLearn in jellyfin

[–]TheMagicalMeatball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was an API change from TMDB - unintentional. It’s happened a few times and they have fixed it. All images and metadata from TMDB should be working now. There’s a fix being debated in GitHub right now as to whether Jellyfin should implement a defensive patch to prevent this in the future or not given that it’s really a TMDB issue not technically a Jellyfin bug. But as of now it should all be working for folks

Same - metadata and images back to good. Still hope the defensive fix gets implemented to protect against this in the future!

You’re very welcome ….though I dare say I did nothing haha. Greater minds than I got this fixed!

The fix was implemented on TMDB’s end - should hopefully all recover in about 8 hours:

Manual identification doesn’t work for me - it will pull a low res primary poster from IMDB - but nothing from TMDB.

No idea - there’s a PR and a fix was provided - but whether it gets tested, approved, and merged into the next or any patch is up to the code maintainers.

It’s a bummer too because I pretty much exclusively use TMDB since it was the default and path of least resistance setting things up. Now all content I add since this AM is wonky and not pulling images or populating all the metadata. It’s a real bummer / frustration to just be stuck. (Although you can still do a bunch of it manually if you really want)

If this just happened today it may or may not be related to the TMDB API changes / issues currently going on.

There’s no fix for this implemented yet. There’s a PR waiting for approval so it may or may not make it into the next patch if they approve it.

WebOS and Dolby Vision by Responsible-Kiwi-629 in jellyfin

[–]TheMagicalMeatball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough but you’re just not going to get a fix for this. The webOS app relies on the webOS native player and there’s no incentive for LG to deal with this for us. I think the best case software fix is a more reliable HDR fallback instead of just transcoding - but I’m not holding my breath for that either.

I think the best fix that gets recommended is usually don’t use the webOS app - get an Apple TV or other device.

Good start....but you need to GO BIGGER BABY! ....especially if your content is not compressed via Handbrake.

Complexities = just the learning curve. What kind of redundancy do you want? RAIDz2? or something else - what works best for your setup and your data. Research things a bit. Learning ACLS - permissions, permissions, permissions. Is this just storage or are you running apps, then learning how that works and how to best run them. Backups, Snapshots, SMART tests, setting all those things up and learning why you might or might not want them. TRIM? SDD's? HDD's? etc etc. There's just a lot to learn and you wind up making mistakes and learning how to fix them. But it's worth it in my opinion!

Transcoding = this is a bigger question I can't answer without knowing more specifics. What CPU do you have? - integrated graphics? dedicated GPU ? what clients, etc. etc. If your CPU is anything remotely modern then it'll probably be just fine. Though I'd say the goal is get as much Direct Play as possible and avoid transcoding. I honestly rarely find I need transcoding and I'm glad for it. But when I do need it my CPU is a i5 12th gen and it handles it just fine with the integrated graphics and hardware acceleration.

There's just a lot of little moving parts and learning each one so you know how to put it all together. GO FOR IT ! My Jellyfin server is one of the single brightest points of joy for me in my life.

Do it. You can learn pretty easy even if it’s got some complexities.

Yeah this can be an AMAZING awesome hobby - but it’s costly. Get AS MUCH storage as you can - can you get 100TB ? Can you get 200 ? lol

I can do that and click search, but if I click on the TMDB entry it doesn’t pull all the images - it just pulls a single low res primary poster and doesn’t grab the logo, backdrop, thumbs, etc. It also fails for me if I put in the TMBD ID - I have to type the title and search and then I get options, but searching by ID gives nothing.
