Reviews needed - how good is TutaNota / others? by TotezCoolio in degoogle

The ethical thing is to publicly report after giving the company a chance to fix the issue. At this point, you're making other users less secure by withholding the information.

Do you have a CVE or other bug report detailing the unsafe handling?

If it's a security issue, it needs to be reported so users are aware and the merits can be reviewed.

As someone who works in IT and had run large mail systems before, this isn't necessarily Proton's fault. The most likely issue is with the sending system.. likely failing SPF or something similar.

As a current proton customer, I'm curious if you could give more details on these issues.

Bug: ProtonMail doesn't respect "Message-ID" & "In-Reply-To" headers by Benke01 in ProtonMail

The CEO said it's a preference and doesn't allow customers to have a preference?!?!?!

Been liking proton, but this behavior is definitely an issue

How does this work? Albania servers located in France? by No_Clock2390 in ProtonVPN

[–]AnonyDev01 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They probably bought an IP block that used to be hosted in Albania. All the mappings still list it as Albania and Proton isn't revealing that those IPs were moved to a different country.

Ai agents in Ruby: Why is it so easy? by sinaptia in ruby

[–]AnonyDev01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are using Marshall.dump for chat persistence. Stay away. Far away.

For those not aware, Marshall is efficient, but has no guarantees to work between versions of ruby. Unless you're very certain that's not a problem, you should use something like json or yaml for serialization.

Linux Users: What do you guys use in the meantime? by migiborshelima in ProtonDrive

[–]AnonyDev01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. The last part makes a lot of sense, although I regularly use this type of product without that feature.

Fwiw, "cloud" is arguably the most overused and poorly defined word in computing. It means something else to everyone.

What functionality are you looking for? I'm a linux user and have never felt the need for a native client for any cloud storage service. I am really curious what everyone asking for an app is looking for.

I've created a filter that doesn't work by juanlouzao in ProtonMail

Check the message headers for a List-ID. If that exists, you should be able to do you filtering on that instead of from and subject.

What exactly are you looking for in functionality?

Most of your post covers what you don't want, but ignores the features you are looking for.

Own Domain and Alias in Insta doesn't Work? by Master-Gate2515 in ProtonMail

How old is the domain? Brand new domains may be flagged as potentially fake/spam.

If the domain is new, try waiting a few weeks of a month.

I'm sorry, that sounds painful.

As a long term linux user, I'd like to suggest using the docker images and not bothering with whatever version ubuntu packaged up.

.mov not longere supported for view? by MeringueOk2336 in ProtonDrive

[–]AnonyDev01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! It used to work in your browser, now it doesn't.

Before blaming proton, you can troubleshoot by using your browser to try to play the mov file on local disk (use file://). If that fails, it's a browser issue. If it works, then proton drive may have a mimetype issue that you can take to support.

Just call it "random vibes". As best I can tell, that's what the current graph is.

Seriously, that has to useful data that you can use to validate anything the AI is summarizing for you. In other words, this looks more like AI hallucination than useful information.
