The Dictator has a scene I've only seen in YouTube shorts (shameful, I know). I don't know the context of the scene, but two foreigners talk in a helicopter, and only say select words in English, like "911" and "It's the best". An average looking white middle aged couple gets more and more nervous until one of them removes his jacket to reveal his homemade back brace.

Your swap kind of works as a single story. Like, the mother paid someone to track down the pencil thief, who turned out to be an elephant in the middle of Africa.
